Whale Done Graduate! - Stampin' Up! Whale Done

I haven't needed many graduation cards the last few years so when I needed one this week my choice of stamp sets were a little slim!  Luckily I have the Whale Done set which has the sentiment that is perfect for celebrating a big accomplishment.  I paired it up with this week's Paper Player Challenge.  Laurie has given us a fun sketch to work with this time.  I always like the ones that have a "any shape" element; I need that flexibility sometimes!

It was a happy coincidence that one of the school colors is blue so when I was looking for some DSP to use in the background this pattern this one from the retired Whale of a Time DSP fit perfectly.

I used the new Basic Borders dies to cut some clouds in the top of the Basic White rectangle panel to add a bit of interest.  The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and embossed in black.  The other school color is orange so I added a bit of Pumpkin Pie cotton ribbon under the sentiment.

The whale is punched out, stamped and adhered to a Balmy Blue stitched circle.  The outside fin is popped with a tiny piece of dimensional as is the silver Glimmer paper water spout.  Then the whole circle is adhered with dimensionals.

Check out the great ideas from the Paper Players design team and then play along with us!

  1. Cute the pun!

  2. Amanda, this is so adorable! I love that little whale and the silver water spout! The orange adds a great pop of color and the clouds are the perfect background. Your card made me smile!

  3. Amanda, I love how you used the sketch this week. Your background DSP is a perfect background and the sparkle from your whale is the perfect finishing touch. I always love to see blues and oranges together! Hope you have a great holiday weekend.

  4. Your use of that border die was PERFECT for this fun card! What a great way to say "WHALE DONE"! LOVE it!

  5. An absolutely perfect...and unique...graduation card! I would have been in the same boat as you as far as suitable stamp sets, but this is SO clever! This is one card which will stand out among the rest. Whale done, Amanda!

  6. This is such a fun card Amanda and I love the combo of the cute whale and the cloud border! The pop of orange from the ribbon adds an eye-catching element too - a standout grad card!

  7. Just adorable Amanda! Love the clouds and that bright pop of orange is the most perfect detail.
