Classic Typewriter - Stampin' Up! Just My Type

After browsing some current challenges I decided to join in on the Just Us Girls "CASE a Designer" challenge.  All of the team's samples are just lovely and I could CASE each of them if I had the time! But I decided that I wanted to use Carol's card as inspiration.  I liked the pink, black and gold color combo as well as the use of circles.  I also had an already stamped black typewriter from the Just My Type stamp set so I decided it was meant to be!

My card starts with a black card base, then I used a layer of Bright & Beautiful DSP in a fun polka dot pattern in Bubble Bath. I topped that with a layer of the same size in Gold Celebrations Specialty paper.  It's a fun patterned acetate that goes perfectly with the DSP.  I just adhered it with little dots of glue behind the gold dots.

I created a mask out of sticky notes to go around the outside of the paper and across the top of the typewrite and then stamped the flowers on the page in Bubble Bath.  I used my gold Wink of Stella to add some detail to the flowers.

The hello from Biggest Wish is stamped in Versamark and then embossed in gold.  I added a few narrow strips of cardstock under the sentiment and then cut it out with the Stylish Shapes circle die.  Both the circle and typewriter are popped on dimensionals.

The last things I added to the card were a few gold sequins and a black baker's twine bow to balance that side of the card.

All of the products used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Timeless Smile - Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangements

It has been an extremely busy month for our family and I'm looking forward to getting some extra time in the stamp room to make up for all the days I've been away!  I started to get some stamping mojo back yesterday by playing along with Freshly Made Sketches to make a bit of a clean and simple card using the Timeless Arrangement stamp set and a color palette I've been saving for just the right project.  I think this set of colors will make for some lovely fall cards don't you think?

All of the stamping etc. is to be on the top portion of the card to stay with the sketch so I started with a Basic White thick card base.  Then I cut out some of the Countryside Corners dies shapes in Lost Lagoon, Pecan Pie and Wild Wheat.  For the Wild Wheat and Lost Lagoon pieces I stamped them with 2 different stamps in the Timeless Arrangements set in the same color ink.  The Lost Lagoon pieces are stamped off once.  The Pecan Pie die cuts are embossed with the Twisted Rope embossing folder.

I arranged the pieces on a diagonal on a piece of Basic White and then trimmed the overhanging bits.  The panel is then popped on dimensionals on the card front.

The sentiment also from Timeless Arrangements is stamped under the panel in Pecan Pie ink.  None of the embellishment options I had looked quite right so I left them off and kept it unadorned.

All of the products used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Timeless Congrats - Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangements

Even though it's now closed, last week's challenge from Freshly Made Sketches was too nice to pass on by.  I wanted to focus on some of the image stamps in the Timeless Arrangement bundle and this sketch seemed like it would work.  I've mostly just used the sentiments and the die cuts so I thought it was time to give the other stamps some love.

I decided to use a color combination I had noted from some fabric I saw and I love how it turned out!  The card base is Pebbled Path, then I stamped a layer of Lost Lagoon with the open leaf sprig in Pretty Peacock.  I backed that layer with Basic White for a crisp clean edge.

The larger sentiment is from Layering Leaves and was the perfect bit of elegance to go with these colors. The smaller congrats is from the Gone Fishing set.  Both are die cut and then added to the card front with the circle popped with dimensionals.

The flowers are stamped in Pretty Peacock on Basic White and then colored in with Flirty Flamingo Blends and finally die cut.  I layered them along the edge of the circle and added a little gold bow for some glam.  A bit more shine is added with a few sequins.

All of the current products used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Bright Type Thank You - Stampin' Up! Just My Type

Here is the third card we made at my last class.  The typewrite in the Just my Type set is so cute and I love how you can add the sheet of paper and stamp the sentiment on it!  I used a bright summer color combo on this card as well.

This one starts with a Highland Heather base, then it's topped with a piece of Zoo Crew DSP in one of the black & white patterns.  The typewriter and paper are stamped in Memento black and fussy cut.  The sentiment is added in Berry Burst.

The little images are stamped on the strips of Highland Heather and Berry Burst and along with a piece of White Center Specialty paper in Lemon Lime Twist embossed with the 3d Rope embossing folder and then adhered to the card front.

The typewriter is popped on dimensionals and then a fussy cut flower, envelope and bow are added or extra cuteness! A few gems finish off the look.

All of the items used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Balloons in Blues - Stampin' Up! Beautiful Balloons

Just a quick card to share today for Testosterone Tuesday where I share card ideas for guys.  I designed the card to use the Just Add Ink sketch this week.  I liked the big center panel and kept it pretty clean and simple and let the colors do all the work.

I liked the classic blue and yellow combo and I think Azure Afternoon and Blueberry Bushel work so well together in a light/dark combo especially for balloons.

I used a star pattern on the background from the Bright & Beautiful DSP.  I edged the Basic White panel with some narrow strips of Blueberry Bushel.  The balloons are stamped and cut out, the balloon strings are stamped and then the balloons adhered with the Daffodil Delight one popped on a dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Blueberry Bushel and fussy cut then in keeping with the sketch I added some fringe to make it pop.  And finally in my ongoing effort to use up all my gems and other embellishments I pulled out some retired Pale Papaya In Color gems which for some reason definitely look more yellow than orange.

Plant Love - Stampin' Up! Just My Type

I combined 2 challenges for this fresh, clean and simple card.  I've seen a few cards that use the little plant in Just My Type as a focal image and I thought it would be a cute image to use in the CAS Colours & Sketches layout.  My color inspiration came from Color Throwdown and their fun combo of green, fuchsia, terracotta and light gray which I translated into Parakeet Party, Melon Mambo, Copper Clay and Smoky Slate.

I started with a Basic White card base and then to follow the sketch, added a strip of the retired Butterfly Kisses DSP.  I stamped the plant in Parakeet Party and the pot in Copper Clay and fussy cut them.  All of the die cuts are made with the Crafting With You dies; the Basic White circle, the embroidery hoop and the heart.

The fussy cut pieces are popped on dimensionals and the heart is glued down.  The sentiment is stamped in Smoky Slate and a few retired Parakeet Party candy dots are added next to it.

Told you it was clean and simple!

Gorgeous Leaves - Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Gardens Dies

My stampers had a great time doing some ink blending at my last class.  After just starting with some plain Basic white cardstock they ended up with their own versions of this beauty!  It was fun to see how each persons card turned out depending on how they blended their ink!

The card starts with a Basic White thick card base, then using a layer of Basic White we aded color with blending brushes.  We used Lemon Lolly, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock.  Next we flicked some water drops onto the blended ink using a water painter and a dish of water.  The excess water was blotted with a paper towel to create a fun detail.

Next, using the Gorgeous Gardens dies we cut the leaf pattern on the blended ink layer.  Look at how lovely the effect of the inks and large panel die cut is!!  Quick tip for this card front sized die: all die cutters are different so you may or may not need a shim when cutting with this die.  If you find you aren't getting clean cuts you may want to add a shim to your die cutting sandwich.  I used a piece of cardboard packing from a pack of DSP and ran it twice through my die cutter and all the pieces come right out.  If you've tried different shims/sandwiches/multiple times through and you're still having trouble getting a clean cut definitely contact your demo about it!

To finish off this card; we used the Stylish Shapes circle dies to cut 3 circles; one in Lemon Lolly, one in Pretty Peacock Soft Shimmer paper and one in white with the sentiment on it.  The sentiment is in the Layering Leaves stamp set and is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.

The circles are grouped together to the side of the card front and a branch from Layering Leaves is stamped in Pretty Peacock on Lost Lagoon cardstock and punched out.  It's then popped on mini dimensionals over the circles.

The embellishments are a ribbon knot out of Lemon Lolly Sheer ribbon and a Lost Lagoon Tinsel Gem.

Fishing Vest - Stampin' Up! Gone Fishing

I'm always on the lookout for fun folds to teach at my monthly classes and I came across a fishing vest card that I tweaked a bit and made it my own to use in class this month.  The Gone Fishing bundle has been fun to use and making this card is no exception!

And I was so happy to find a use for Wild Wheat!  It's not my favorite In Color but definitely works for this outdoorsy fishing vest look!  And the plaid pockets!!?  I'm just waiting for LL Bean or Orvis to want to use this card as inspiration for a line of gear!

Check out the video tutorial for all the details and watch me make the card, bumbles, goofs and all!  It's real life stamping for sure!

Rainbow Cactus - Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta

I just found this card buried in my 'to be shared' folder and I think I made it more than a month ago!  I'm sure it was for a Clean and Simple challenge but it's so long past that I don't even know which one!  This is one of those cards that I'm pretty sure looked better in my head than what ended up on the cardstock.  But at the end of the day it made me smile and any time spent stamping is time well spent in my book!

Since it was a CAS card I kept it to one layer and just used Basic White thick for the base.  I cut a stencil with the Deckled Rectangle dies and used it to blend a very light amount of Pool Party ink on the background to create the color block.

Then I stamped 6 cacti from the Taco Fiesta stamp set in Memento black ink.  I pulled out my Blends markers and colored a nice rainbow across the images. The hello from Biggest Wish is stamped in black and then I added the faces to a few of the cacti to add a bit of personality.

All in all a very easy card to make but I think I would change the spacing and the size of the sentiment if I were to re-do this design.

Anniversary Florals - Stampin' Up! Textured Florals

I made this pretty floral card the other day for my in-laws anniversary.  I think I used a closed challenge for the colors but I didn't mark down which one.  I thought they were a nice bright combo for a summer anniversary.

I started with a Bubble Bath card base and then another layer of Bubble Bath.  I used the Gorgeous Garden dies to emboss the background pattern.  Stampin' Up! used to have a set of rubber mats and plates to be able to use dies as embossing folders so I pulled those out to get the pretty floral background.

2 pieces of Bright & Beautiful DSP are used to anchor the flower grouping.  The flowers are stamped in Lemon Lolly and Bubble Bath and then cut out.  The leaves are cut out of another pattern of Bright & Beautiful DSP.

The flowers are popped on dimensionals as is the sentiment.  I pulled out some retired gems and added them around the flowers for a bit of sparkle.

Birthday Band - Stampin' Up! Zany Zoo

My card today is another birthday card using the Zany Zoo bundle and Zoo Crew DSP.  Using some of the animals from the DSP gives you more options to create fun little scenes like this one!

I started with a Basic Black card base.  Then a layer of Lime Lime Twist with a bit of ink blending using a striped stencil.  The bear, frog and beaver are all cut from the Zoo Crew DSP and I added a some more color to the bear and beaver before adhering them to the card front.

The turtle is stamped in Memento black and colored with more Blends and then cut out and popped up on dimensionals.

I stamped the music notes around the animals to fill in some of the open space and then added the sentiment.

The Pool Party sequins were ones I found in my retired embellishment stash and added them around the grouping for the final touch.

All the current products used on this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Hello Letters - Stampin' Up! Stamped With Love

My card today uses the Global Design Project sketch which I have to confess I used very loosely as my elements were a bit too large to space out exactly as the challenge shows but I hope you can see the inspiration nonetheless!

I started with a Basic White thick card base, then a layer of Smoky Slate topped with a piece of Bright & Beautiful DSP in a polka dot pattern.  A white baker's twine bow is tied around this layer.

Next I stamped the envelopes in different ink/paper combinations and mixed and matched the the colors and fussy cut the postage stamps so they would all be a bit different.  I used the "hello" from the Biggest Wish stamp set and it's a perfect size to stamp on the envelope.

Once I had my envelopes all set I arranged them on the opposite corners as close to the sketch as the sizes would allow I adhered the pieces with some bring popped on dimensionals.

The final touches are a few pastel adhesive-backed sequins for a bit of shine.

Timeless Thank You - Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangements

My friends at The Paper Players have a great set of challenge colors this week and I had to play along!

It's a horrible photo but the sun just wasn't cooperating and I didn't have time to wait around for it to change.  But I hope you get the gist anyway!  I love this combo of black, white, Lost Lagoon, Bubble Bath and Berry Burst.

I've been using the Timeless Arrangement bundle a lot lately and it was handy on my desk so I grabbed it again!  I started with a Lost Lagoon base, the used the Fern embossing folder on a piece of Basic White.

I cut a whole bunch of different pieces in Bubble Bath, Berry Burst and Basic Black and layered them behind a strip of Lost Lagoon Soft Shimmer Specialty paper.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and embossed in black and die cut.  I saw another stampers card with these cute little flowers on her card and I was like,  "hey, I don't have that die in my set" before I realized that it was the flower sprig die with just the flowers trimmed off!   So I did the same with a bit of the Soft Shimmer paper in Berry Burst.

A black bakers twine bow is the only embellishment.

Vintage Copper Thanks - Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangements

My card today is quite a bit out of my regular range but it's good to do that sometimes right?  I was scanning through my list of challenges to see what caught my eye and the Festive Friday list for World Conservation Day had a great mix of elements to choose from so I dug around and this is what I came up with.

The elements I incorporated into my card are: Kraft, copper, foliage, recycling, vellum and thank you sentiment.

The kraft advertisement background is part of a paper bag that I received an Etsy order in and I tucked it away in my stamp room thinking that I could make a card out of it!  So its for the kraft and recycle element at the same time.  I stamped some Crumb Cake circles with one of the accents stamps from Timeless Arrangements me to add a bit of detail.

The copper comes in the way of retired copper foil with die cut foliage sprigs from the Timeless Arrangement dies as well as a bit of copper washi tape on 2 corners.  It's so hard to photograph foil elements but it's a really nice rich look against the kraft background.

The square vellum doily is also retired but makes a nice base on which to add the thank you sentiment and foliage.

Thanks to the Festive Friday team for a fun (out of my comfort zone) challenge!

All current products used to make this card can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE.

Birdy Thanks - Stampin' Up! Birds Eye View

Not much time for chitchat this morning but I have another adorable (if I do say so myself!) card with the Bird's Eye View stamp set.  I was inspired by the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and I used the left to right diagonal of Green and Blue, CAS and Critter.  A bird is a critter right??

I started with a Blueberry Bushel card base then a layer of Basic White on which I used a blending brush and a square stencil to create the sky block with Balmy Blue ink.

I stamped the bird in Memento Black, the branch in Pecan Pie and the leaves in Granny Apple Green.  I used Blends to color everything in and then fussy cut and added everything to the scene.  Some of the leaves and the bird are popped up with dimensionals.

Since it's a CAS card with no embellishments the final details is the thanks in Memento Black.

Camping Birthday - Stampin' Up! Zany Zoo

I needed a few birthday cards and wanted to use some of the cute animals on the Zoo Crew DSP to create a little scene.  I had only used the stamped images in the coordinating Zany Zoo stamp set so far but there is such a variety of other animals that are so easy to fussy cut and incorporate into a card.  I added some color with Blends markers to the DSP animals to give them a bit more interest.

I started with an Azure Afternoon card base then created my scene on a piece of Balmy Blue.  The pig and the lion are the DSP and the skunk is the stamped image.  After they were colored and cut out I placed them on the card front with some pine trees in the background and clouds in the sky.

The sentiment is from the Go To Greetings set and is stamped in Azure Afternoon in the corner.  This one is intended for a boy so I left off any extra embellishments.

Timeless Garden Thanks - Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangements

I'm playing along with The Color Hues challenge today which is Merlot & Navy and I hope my "merlot" is close enough. Stampin' Up! recently retired Merry Merlot which would be a perfect match for this challenge but all I have available is Cherry Cobbler.  Maybe adjust your screen color settings to get it closer lol!  Looking back maybe I should have had Navy as the main color instead!  Live and learn!

There isn't much stamping on this card but it instead uses a lot of die cutting.  I started with a Basic White thick card base, then used a piece of Cherry Cobbler and one of the Gorgeous Gardens dies to cut the beautiful background panel.

The sentiment from Timeless Arrangements is stamped in Night of Navy on Basic White then cut out with the Timeless Arrangements dies.  Using Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and More Dazzle specialty paper I cut out various leaf shapes and layered them behind the sentiment.  Once they were all set then I popped the whole thing up on dimensionals on the card front.

I used some Night of Navy bordered ribbon to make a fork bow (tutorial here) and then added a few retired gold gems.

I think these colors plus the gold accents makes for a really elegant card.  Thanks for the inspiration Color Hues team!

Love Birds - Stampin' Up! Bird's Eye View

I'm probably going to say this every time I use this set but....I love the Bird's Eye View stamp set!  I'm going to sound like a broken record but it's just adorable and good for so many occasions as well as color combinations!  I used it this time around with the As You See It challenge.  The sketch with the large center circle was the perfect place to show off more birds!

I made this one for my husband for our upcoming anniversary.  The Love Birds are so cute and they look exactly like us lol!

I started with an Orchid Oasis card base, the topped it with a piece of Basic White embossed with the Twisted Rope embossing folder.  I added the center panel edged with some scallops made with the Basic Borders dies.  I cut 2 lengths of scallops for each side as the die doesn't make a long enough cut for the whole piece.  The seam where they meet up is hidden under the circle.

The circle is cut with the Stylish Shapes dies.  The birds are stamped in Memento black and then colored in with Blends markers (colors listed below) and then fussy cut and popped on dimensionals on the circle. Using a black Stampin' Write marker I added some eyelashes to the girl bird to give her a little bit more personality.

The heart is punched out of retired 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer paper in Sweet Sorbet.  I had to add a smaller heart at the bottom because somehow I got some ink smudged there after I had the whole card put together.  But I'm going to call it a design decision if anyone asks!

The sentiment from Just My Type is stamped in black and then snipped apart and added to the card front on dimensionals.

Wedding Table 8 - Stampin' Up! Textured Floral

When I saw the current Inspired by Challenge I laughed out loud.  We have a running joke for the last 20 years with a group of friends stemming all the way back to our own wedding and Table 8.  When doing our seating plan for our reception we had a group of friends who didn't all know each other from various times/places of our lives but we knew they would have a good time together so we sat them all together.... at Table 8. And boy did they have a good time!!  They were the fun, rowdy table, laughing the whole night and having a great time with those Kodak table cameras that were all the rage back then.  Subsequently over the years we have been seated at Table 8's at their weddings even when having a table 8 made no sense to the seating plan.  We've continued the tradition of being the fun table as well as texting and sharing photos from other weddings we've attended where, just randomly, we've been seated at Table 8.  It's like someone knows that's the table we've got to be seated at!

This card was meant to be for a wedding was it not??  I also actually needed one for a wedding we're attending in a few weeks and while I don't know what table we'll be seated at fingers crossed for 8!  I was inspired by the floral arrangement and colors.

This one starts with a Basic White thick card base, then a layer of Basic Black, then a layer of Basic White embossed with the retired Subtle embossing folder and then blended some Pool Party ink lightly in the background.  I created the "vase" with Basic Black cardstock and cut a partial shape with the Countryside Corners dies and then embossed it with the Stripes embossing folder (from the 2 pack Stripes & Splatters).  It's hard to see the textured as well as the Wink of Stella that I colored on for some sparkle.

Next I stamped a bunch of flowers in Flirty Flamingo and used the stamped off versions and layered several for a more full look. The leaves at stamped (and stamped off) in Shaded Spruce.  The wispy greens are cut from Pool Party card stock.  One flower is stamped off in Petal Pink to follow the colors in the inspiration photo.  After all the die cutting was done I arranged the flowers in the "vase" with some being popped up with dimensionals and others laying flat.

The sentiment from Sentimental Park is stamped in Memento Black and then trimmed down and layered over a length of retired crinkled seam binding ribbon.  Retired White Opaque Adhesive-Backed gems are placed all around the arrangement for subtle sparkle and shine.

This was definitely a fun card to make and remember all of our own Table 8 shenanigans!
