Row of Poppies - Stampin' Up! Painted Poppies

We made this cheerful floral birthday card at my last quick and easy card class and I love the vibrant colors that are perfect for summer.  A quick change to the sentiment would make this a wonderful all occasion card as well.

Not only is the layout quick and easy with just 2 simple layers on the card front, the coloring takes no time at all too.  I just grabbed my Blends markers (colors listed below) and randomly colored in flowers until they were all finished.  I didn't do any blending or shading.

Some dimensionals to pop the layers and a few Iridescent rhinestones are the finishing details on this card.

Inspired Sympathy - Stampin' Up! Inspired Thoughts

I recently held one of my Quick & Easy card classes and we made this sympathy card with the soon to be retiring Heart & Home DSP (it's on sale too for the next few days! Ordering link in my sidebar!).  All the prints in this pack are so sweet and the opposite sides are wonderful gray woodgrain prints which are so useful for many kinds of cards.

I used a few of the die cuts from the coordinating Flowers of Home dies to accent around the stamped sentiment.  Some small adhesive pearls are added to the flower centers for a subtle accent.

The whole DSP panel is popped on dimensionals on the card front.  As this card shows, there is definitely no need to overthink a sympathy card.  Some pretty DSP and a sentiment can make for a lovely card to show your love.

CAS Christmas Tree - Stampin' Up! Trees for Sale

When it comes to Christmas cards it sometimes doesn't matter how early I start making them, come December I find myself needing more than I have made.  It's nice to have a few Clean and Simple designs at the ready to make a few more as needed.  My card today is just one of those designs.  I'm playing along with the Perfectly CAS Challenge where the challenge is to do a clean and simple card with only 1/4 of the card front being used.

A cute Christmas tree from the new Trees for Sale set would be just the right size for a 1/4 of a card front.

I kept this one to one layer rounding the bottom corners and using a bit of red and gold to accent. The gold embossing on the simple sentiment doesn't show well in the photo but it's a nice bit of shine to go with the glimmer paper star at the top of the tree.

I could definitely whip up a few of these in no time when I'm rushed in December!

Merry Little Tree - Stampin' Up! Spruced Up

The Global Design Project has a fun case the designer challenge this week.  I love the layout and the colors of the designers' project so I used both as inspiration for my card today.

Isn't this a fun color combination for a Christmas card?  I used Smoky Slate for the background lines and the sentiment and used Pool Party for the tree and Polished Pink for the gift and star.

This is such a simple but cute layout and I love the tree and gift popped up and the little adhesive backed sequins to decorate the tree.

Amazing Father - Stampin' Up! Amazing Phrases

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I didn't do too much stamping but I did participate in the Stampin' Up! Creativity Now demonstrator event on Saturday evening!  It was a treat to stamp cards that I didn't design!  Hardly ever happens lol!  I got some lovely samples to show off using the Splendid Thoughts stamp set so that's always a bonus too!  I should find some time this week to share those projects.

My card today is one I made for my husband for Father's Day.  I used the Sale-a-Bration set Amazing Phrases-- available to earn for free starting July 1!  I paired it up with the cool color combo from Just Add Ink.  At first I thought I would go in an autumn themed direction with the Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie but it turns out it was a great masculine color combo!

I started with a Very Vanilla thick card base then a layer of Crushed Curry and finally a layer of Basic Gray cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies.  I stamped the word 'amazing' in a diagonal in Basic Gray ink for the background.  Then I stamped 'amazing' again 3 more times in the challenge colors and fussy cut them.  I popped them on dimensionals in the center of the card then added my other words.

The 'you are' is a separate stamp in the set so I stamped it and fussy cut the words apart.  I used the 'an' from the 'to another year' stamp and just cut out the part I needed and added it to the card front.  The 'father' came from the retired set Something to Celebrate and I backed it with some Crushed Curry to help it stand out.

I'm pleased with how this one came out especially not using any image stamps and just the words which I don't do very often!

Stamps: Amazing Phrases (SAB), Something to Celebrate (retired)

Ink: Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie

Tahitian Snowflakes - Stampin' Up! Spruced Up

The Colors Hues challenge this time is Blue and Green.  It doesn't matter what shades just using the blue and green.  I went with Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party for a bright, fun Christmas card!  It's never too early to start making Christmas cards!  I promise you'll thank me in November if you get a head start now.

This was my first time playing with the Spruced Up set along with the coordinating dies Spruced Up Outlines so I kept it pretty basic and had some fun with ink blending for the background.

I stamped the snowflakes in Versamark all over a piece of Basic White and then embossed with with embossing powder.  I added Tahitian Tide around each one with a blending brush keeping more ink concentrated in the center and then lightening as I went out.

The ornament is stamped in Parakeet Party with a Tahitian Tide snowflake added for decoration.  The hanger bit and snowflake outline are cut from silver foil and add a nice little bit of shiny detail.

The sentiment from Brightest Glow is embossed in white onto Tahitian Tide cardstock and popped up with dimensionals.

Embellishments are the Parakeet Party Matte Decorative dots and a bakers twine bow.

This set is definitely one that will be getting a lot of use from me as there are a ton of different combinations and styles that you can do with mixing and matching the stamps and dies.

Harvest Pumpkin Trio - Stampin' Up! Hello Harvest

So if Christmas cards are on the table for summer stamping pumpkin cards are definitely on the table!  I'm making lots of samples of seasonal cards right now for my upcoming Mini Catalog Kickoff event in July.  My stampers love to see all the ways you can use a stamp set so I like to have multiple samples for each of the sets I'm displaying.

The Color Throwdown colors this week threw me for a day or 2.  I was trying to wrap my brain around orange and pink and I was trying to figure out how to use them so I wouldn't hate it all.  Then I thought what about pumpkins in the challenge colors?  The upcoming new Harvest Hello bundle has some fun pumpkin dies with a cool texture effect that I thought might work well.  What do you think?

After the pumpkins were die cut I sponged the same color ink around the edges and then added the Crumb Cake stems and vines.

I mounted them on top of a piece of Very Vanilla embossed with the Leaf Fall embossing folder.  I sponged some Crumb Cake ink around the edge to keep with the distressed look of the pumpkins.

The Hello banner is popped up over the edge of the pumpkins and over a length of retired Fine Art ribbon which has a bit of gold woven through for a hint of sparkle.

I'm happy I could make these colors work because I was very skeptical at first!  I guess that's why they call it a challenge!

Father's Day Fishes - Stampin' Up! A Fish & A Wish

I'm playing along with the TGIF Challenges sketch with today's card.  It was a great layout for my first card with the A Fish & A Wish stamp set.  I didn't get it initially when the annual catalog was released but it was on my very next order.  I love that the punch punches 2 different fish; perfect for mixing and matching!

Tahitian Tide is a really great pairing with Pacific Point and bringing in some Parakeet Party really makes for a fresh color combination!

I started with a Crumb Cake base then a layer of Tahitian Tide, then another layer of Crumb Cake stamped with the little wave stamp and then embossed/die cut with the Stitched with Whimsy dies.

For the cross panel of the sketch I stamped the seaweed stamp all the way across varying the height as well as the saturation of ink, stamping off once and twice to go with the full strength ink.

Next, I stamped 3 fish in my colors and using the punch and my paper snips cut them out.  I added some punched fins and then popped them up with dimensionals over the seaweed.

The Clear Polished Dots are perfect for little air bubbles so I added a few of those as the only embellishment.

The sentiment from a retired set is stamped in Pacific Point.

Hippo Hey - Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos

I'm continuing to have fun with the adorable hippos in the upcoming Sale-a-Bration set Hippest Hippos.  I love their cute expressions and all the fun dies for lots of great accessories.

I made this card for my team members this month to say hello.  If you'd ever like to get more information about becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator just give me a shout!  I'm always happy to talk shop with you!

The hippos are paired with another Sale-a-Bration set; Amazing Phrases which has a fun, relaxed feel and is a mix and match sentiment set.  This one will certainly come in very handy! I used the banner shape from Stylish Shapes to cut it out.

After coloring with Blends I die cut the hippos and then mounted it on a Stylish Square which is adhered to a piece of Tea Boutique DSP.  There are some flowers stamped in the corners to match the die cut flowers and you can find the flower stamp in the Cup of Tea set.

I raided my retired ribbon scraps and embellishments for a white candy dot for the flower center and a ribbon knot for the sentiment.

Friendly Tea - Stampin' Up! Cup of Tea

The team at Just Add Ink has a fun 'choose two' challenge.  The choices are coffee, tea and friend.  I have zero coffee stamps so it was an easy choice to go with tea and friend!

I paired the Cup of Tea stamp set with the floral paper from Heart & Home DSP.  I have used up almost this entire pack of DSP which is very rare for me; usually there are a few full sheets left at the end of a sales period but with this pack I just blew through it the last 6 months!  All that's left are a few scraps and that's a satisfying feeling!

I made this one into a book binding fold which is really easy, just score your 4 1/4" x 11 card base at 5 1/2" and 6 3/4" and adhere the "spine" part so you have a nice square panel as your card flap.

Everything is pretty simple for this one except for adding the Shaded Spruce bits into the leafy overlay on the tea cup.  I just cut a second overlay in Shaded Spruce and added the piece back into the Basic White one.  It was a bit fussy but not hard to do and I like the contrast on the end result.

The sentiment is from Through it Together and pulls in the "friend" element of the challenge.

Coastal Bay Birthday - Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish

I always need a selection of birthday cards so I made this one a while back using the Biggest Wish stamp set and some fun silver embossing.

Harvest Basket - Stampin' Up! Hello Harvest

The upcoming mini catalog has so much seasonal goodness it's hard to know where to start when making samples.  I usually try with making one sample with each new bundle/stamp set just to get familiar with the style.  I went full on fall with this one using the Hello Harvest bundle.

I started with a Cajun Craze card base, then a layer of Rustic Harvest DSP in a nice Crushed Curry pattern.  I overlaid that with a piece of vellum embossed with the Leaf Fall embossing folder.  Don't miss this folder in the catalog, it's on page 53 and isn't very visible!

Next I cut a Crumb Cake basket with the Full Basket dies (so many ways to mix and match sets with this sweet die!).  I then stamped the flower image as well as a few single sunflowers and colored them with Stampin' Blends and Stampin' Write markers depending on the colors.  I cut them all out and then layered them over the basket and popped them with dimensionals.

The banner is stamped and cut out and also popped with dimensionals.  A linen thread bow is a nice rustic accent for the side of the basket.

Candy Cane Wishes - Stampin' Up! Sweet Candy Canes

After telling myself last week that I would start making Christmas cards using my July-Dec. mini catalog preorder I finally got around to it yesterday!  I kept it super simple with my first try with the new Sweet Candy Canes bundle and usde a clean layout from Freshly Made Sketches.

The layout is perfect for the 2 tall candy canes!  I stamped one in Sweet Sorbet and Garden Green and then layered them with a Stylish Shape circle embossed with the sentiment and a strip of the Red Glimmer paper.  The only embellishment I used was a Sweet Sorbet baker's twine bow.

The background panel is made using the large striped die that comes in the Candy Canes dies.  It's meant to cut a nice large diagonal piece but I decided to emboss with it instead giving a nice subtle striped pattern.  I think it works well like this for a bit of different use for the die.

Welcome to the Family - Stampin' Up! Jar of Flowers

I had a new team member join at the end of May so I wanted to create a card to welcome her to the team and to the Stampin' Up! family.  I used the just ended Just Add Ink layout along with the theme challenge over at The Paper Players which is to use food and/or drink on your card.

A little jar of lemonade seemed like a great idea with the weather being a bit hot and humid the last few days.  I love this layout because it's a great way to show off several different DSP designs.

I started with 2 panels of Tea Boutique DSP in a subtle pattern in Sweet Sorbet.  I balanced that with a little black square of All Together DSP.  The itty bitty hearts are a nice match to the smaller pattern on the other panels.

For the focal panel I embossed a piece of Basic White with the Splatters embossing folder for some texture.  I added a vellum stamped jar from the Jar of Flowers set.  I used Pool Party ink for the jar and then colored in the lemonade with my Daffodil Delight dark Blends marker.  I tucked the Sweet Sorbet straw in and then adhered it all to the Basic White panel.

The lemon slices from the Cup of Tea stamp set are stamped in Daffodil Delight and die cut out and added around the jar and sentiment.  The sentiment is from a retired demo only set and is stamped and cut out with a Stylish Shape circle.

For the embellishments I added a few Classic Matte Dots in black and white in opposite corners and a Sweet Sorbet baker's twine bow to the jar.

I love the summertime feel of this card and wish my new team member a happy Stampin' Up! demo journey!

Tool Celebration - Stampin' Up! Vintage Tools

I'm working on some guy themed cards for Father's Day and used the Global Design Project sketch challenge for this one.  The elements scattered diagonally across the card front works well with the variety of tools in the Vintage Tools stamp set.

I paired the classic tools with a fresh color combination; Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate and Parakeet Party.  That bright green really pops against the neutrals.

I stamped the tools in either Basic Gray or Crumb Cake and then colored them in with Blends.  This set doesn't come with dies but I found them pretty easy to fussy cut. Once they were cut out I adhered them to the card front either flat or popped with dimensionals.

The banner is stamped and adhered to the center along with a little Basic Gray baker's twine bow.  To round out the design I scattered some Parakeet Party matte decorative dots around the tools.

Hippest Dad - Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos **SNEAK PEEK**

I had so many things on my business to do list over the weekend that I didn't really get to dig into my demonstrator pre-order until late in the day on Sunday.  It was my reward for checking so many things off the list!  I ordered mostly Christmas things but I did get the Sale-a-Bration set Hippest Hippos and the coordinating Hippo dies.  You'll be able to earn both of these items for free starting on July 1st!  I love every single one of the Sale-a-Bration rewards this time and really had a hard time choosing what to get.

How cute is this little guy out in the water in his boat?  I'm using TGIF Challenges color combo to make this a great Father's Day card.

I started with a Crumb Cake base, then a layer of Butterfly Kisses DSP.  Next is a Stitched Rectangle in Basic White.  I lightly blended a bit of Pacific Point ink onto the top portion to color the sky.  Using the little waves die I cut a few strips of Basic white and then blended Pacific Point ink to create the water.

The boat is die cut from Crumb Cake and the propeller is cut from silver foil, the flag is stamped and then hand trimmed and popped on dimensionals.  The hippo is stamped and colored in with Blends markers and then die cut.  I gave him some cool Pacific Point shades and then tucked him into the boat.  I snuck in a punched cloud using the new Real Red & White glimmer paper that will be in the upcoming June-Dec. Mini catalog. The final touch is a Pacific Point candy dot to bring just a bit more Pacific Point to the card. When will I ever use them all up??

There are so many great possibilities for this stamp set and matching dies.  It's a great addition to the cute and fun animal offering Stampin' Up! has right now.

Starry Sky Tea Cup - Stampin' Up! Cup of Tea

Today's card is the third and final one we made at my last class.  I used more new In Colors for this one as well.

The first few classes of a new catalog always have a ton of new product on each project.  It's like I can't be chill and just use a few; it's like how many more new things can I add to this card!

We've got the Starry Sky card base, then a strip of Tea Boutique DSP.  The mat layer is Tahitian Tide and some Starry Sky ink lightly blended on the bottom of the Basic white panel.  The leaves are stamped in Parakeet Party with some Orchid Oasis flowers stamped on top.

The adorable striped tea cup is in Starry Sky with Orchid Oasis tag and flower.  The string of the tea bag is the Tahitian Tide baker's twine.

I think the only 'old' product on this card are the adhesive pearls and dimensionals!

An Apple a Day - Stampin' Up! Cheerful Basket

I introduced the Cheerful Basket bundle to my stampers this week and we made this get well card.  I wanted to use all of the new In Colors in our projects this month so I paired up Sweet Sorbet and Parakeet Party for this cute apple themed card.

Using the dies from Full Basket die set we put together this sweet card.  We started with a Crumb Cake base and then layered a Basic White Stylish Shape square over a piece of Sweet Sorbet.  We cut the basket pieces and wove the horizontal pieces through the basket base and then sponged some Crumb Cake ink to pull out the wood grain texture.  Next we added a Parakeet Party kerchief in the 6x6 In Color DSP.

The apples are stamped in Memento Black and colored in with Stampin' Blends.  After coloring they are die cut and placed "in" the basket.

We cut some leaves out of Parakeet Party to sprinkle around the basket and added the sentiment embellished with an In Color Matte Decorative dot.  The edges of the apples are highlighted with a bit of clear Wink of Stella.

Artistic in Gold - Stampin' Up! Uniquely Artistic

I just found out that my demonstrator preorder for the upcoming July-Dec. mini catalog has been delayed so it won't be arriving today as expected so now I've got free time that I hadn't been planning on!  I was going have a good old time opening up everything and just thinking about all the creative possibilities.  Oh well!  I guess there isn't an excuse to not tackle some things on my to-do list!

One of the to-dos is to share one of the cards we made at my class this week.  I wanted to give my stampers a chance to see how awesome the Uniquely Artistic set looks when the line image is embossed in gold.  It was also a great way to incorporate some of the new Distressed Gold Specialty paper.  It's a winning match for sure!

This design starts off with a Gorgeous Grape base, then a layer of Coastal Cabana embossed with the new Fern embossing folder.

Next, my stampers gently tore the edges off of a piece of Distressed Gold paper (you get 2 12x12 sheets for just $5!!! That's a great deal in my book!).  Next the leaf image is embossed in gold on a Stitched Rectangle.

Using re-inkers and water painters a small amount of the Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana and Tahitian Tide ink is dabbed onto the image.  I didn't do any blending on my sample to avoid any muddying of the colors (Basic White cardstock isn't really meant for true watercoloring) and to keep them nice and bright.  Just a little ink is all that is needed.

Once the image was finished being colored it was adhered to the Distressed Gold paper and is popped on the card front with dimensionals.  The sentiment from Go To Greetings is stamped in Gorgeous Grape, popped up and embellished with a gold trim bow.
