Sending Love with Blooms - Stampin' Up! Garden in Bloom

So you know when you're stamping and things are coming together really nicely?  And you're liking how all the elements are looking?  And the layout is good?   And then you adhere something and
---screeeeeech---  all the stamping love and mojo comes to a sudden halt because the main element of the card is completely crooked?  Please tell me I'm not the only one this happens to?  That's exactly what happened to this card.  I was loving all of it; colors, layout, pop of black and now all I can see is the tilt.  Usually I can pop the layer off and re-position it but I used Tear Tape this time and once it's on, it's on!

It's not all fun and games in the stamp room I guess.  But I do still like the card and will certainly be using this color combo again.  The card base is Sahara Sand which is a nice cool neutral against these brights.  The Garden in Bloom set has been around for a while and I still find it useful as a nice 2 step floral set. The larger flowers are stamped in Daffodil Delight with the second layer stamp stamped off once.  The leaves are stamped the same way but with Lemon Lime Twist.  LLT is such a perfect summer green and it looks wonderful with Daffodil Delight.  The little blue flowers are stamped in Soft Sky and then cut out and popped up on dimensionals.

Using my go to sentiment set Sunshine Sayings and coordinating Sunshine Wishes thinlets I stamed the 'sending' in black and then die cut the 'love' in Basic Black.  To make the larger word pop a bit more I pressed the die cut into my Versamark pad and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  It gives it a nice shine and texture.

I used the Layering Squares framelit to make the scalloped edges.  I just used the largest scalloped square die and cut several narrow lengths and then lined up the scallops and adhered them to the back of the flower panel.  The narrow 1/2" or 3/4" strips that we all save in our scrap bags are perfect for this.

A length of retired Soft Sky (or maybe Pool Party??) stitched satin ribbon is folded underneath the main panel.  A black baker's twine bow anchors the right side of the ribbon.  And finally it was all adhered to the card base; crooked of course!

We went on a little hike yesterday and this is the end of one of the trails.  Check out that view out over several lakes!  It was a nice place to sit and relax and watch the comings and goings of boats and forget about crooked cards!

Just Add Beautiful - Stampin' Up! Just Add Text

Today's card features one of the freebie sets I received at the April Stampin' Up! On Stage event.   This isn't a set I would normally have on my wish list but free is free and it's always a good idea to step out of my comfort zone and try to something different.  I find that usually the results are pleasing  and the card is something I can proudly mail out.

The card is very clean and simple with only a few special details.  The image is embossed in black so it has a nice shine and raised feel in real life.  The leaves and flowers are colored in with Calypso Coral and Old Olive markers.  The images are small so it just takes a minute to color it all in.  The image was then cut out with Layering Ovals framelits and another scalloped oval was cut in Old Olive to back it.

The ovals are popped up on dimensionals over a Calypso Coral and Basic Black banner.  The card base is Whisper White thick with the bottom corners rounded.

So the moral of the card is to pull out that stamp set that isn't your style or first choice and just sit down and play with it.  CASE the catalog layout, check out Pinterest for ideas but definitely get some ink on it and see what happens.

Beautiful Life - Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons

I had a lot of fun 'just because' stamping right after my new catalog party in early June and I totally forgot to share this project that my stampers made at the party.  I was so busy stamping and sharing some of those cards to challenges that this one kind of got pushed to the side.  It's a really easy card but so fun and bright.  My stampers loved this set and coordinating framelits and it was at the top of many of their wish lists.  I think the sweet chair die cut was their favorite.  And who can blame them?  So many cute ideas with this chair!

I always like to show off the new In Colors at my new catalog party and this was the card that I designed to use Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist.  Definitely bold and bright but very fun and it shows off the some of the Colorful Seasons stamp set and some of the cordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlets.  There are so many great things happening with this bundle that I think you could come up with a card design for just about any occasion.

This one has a Berry Burst base and then a layer of Whisper White and next one of Lemon Lime Twist.  We die cut the chair in Whisper White and adhered it to the LLT layer.  We stamped the greeting on the other side in Fresh Fig.

3 flowers are then stamped in Fresh Fig and then die cut.  2 more flowers are die cut just using Berry Burst cardstock.  The flowers are layered around the sentiment with one in each cluster popped on dimensionals.  A really easy all purpose card!

It's the Bomb Pop - Stampin' Up! Cool Treats - Fab Friday 115

Now that it's officially summer we can go full force with the summer treats right?  We have a pile of ice pops and bomb pops in our freezer so our family is ready...and the heat seems to have arrived so it's perfect timing!

It's a Fab Friday sketch challenge this week!  We've got several layers to play around with so there should be lots of great ideas in the gallery.

I thought some fun frozen treats would be perfect with this layout and the bright colors work perfectly for those summer celebrations.  This could be a great birthday card or even a 4th of July card!  I love me some red, white and blue (or Tempting Turquoise as the case may be)!

The card base is Whisper White thick and then layered with Tempting Turquoise and more Whisper White panels.  The large Whisper White panel is embossed with the new Ruffled 3D Dymanic Textured embossing folder.  It's hard to see but it give a cool wavy look.  I thought it kind of resembled a flag waving in the breeze so that kind of goes with the 4th of July theme.

Next, is a Real Red flagged strip stamped with the little stars from the Tabs for Everything set.  Definitely take a look at this set if you need some smaller words and images.  I have used it way more than I thought I would when I first received it at the the Stampin' Up! On Stage event in April. And we're only one month into the new catalog.

I used the Cool Treats stamp set to make the bomb pops by stamping several in Real Red and Tempting Turquoise and then cutting the layers and adding Whisper White to make 3 bomb pops.  The sticks were stamped in Crumb Cake and then fussy cut and adhered to the back of the pops.  I popped them up with dimensionals.

Finally we have the sentiment stamped in Real Red using the Tabs for Everything set.  I combined 2 different stamps to get the 'celebrate today'.  Digging out my Silver Glimmer paper scraps I punched a few stars and popped them up with the new mini dimensionals---they are so cute!

Check out the rest of the Fab Friday Design Team for more inspiration for this sketch challenge.  Hope to see your card in the gallery!

21 Balloon Group Thank You - Stampin' Up! Balloon Celebration

So I don't know how it happened but I now have a rising 6th grader!  Holy cow middle school in the fall!?!  We celebrated the end of the elementary school years last week with a bunch of fun activities and a "moving up" ceremony for the 5th grade class.  It was really cute seeing the kids dressed up and being celebrated as well as receiving lots of wells wishes for moving on to middle school.  How did 6 years go so fast?

Along with all of the fun last week of school stuff we had to celebrate the teachers one more time and give them a good send off into their well deserved summer vacation.  The room mom for Ryan's class was putting together a gift for the teacher and she asked if I could make a card that all the kids could sign.  Of course I can make a card....but one large enough for 21 kids to sign?  Well I'm always up for a challenge!

99.99% of my cards are the regular A2 size and that is certainly not big enough for 21 kids to sign.  I ended up using a full sheet of Fresh Fig cardstock folded in half for the card base.  The next issue was what to put on that big, wide open, blank cardfront!  It was quite inimidating having so much space to fill.  I think that's why I don't do any scrapbooking...it's just too much area to work with!  So I browsed my stamp sets and thought balloons would be cute and would work with several colors.  And I could easily fit 21 balloons; one for each kid!

I used a Whisper White panel for the background for the ballons.  I used the Simply Scored to score a line all around the edge for some extra detail that didn't take away from the clean look.  The balloon strings were stamped at the bottom in black.

The balloons are outlined in black and filled in with stamped off Tempting Turquoise, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist.  After punching out all the balloons I played around with the layout and layering trying to get a balance of colors and dimension.  Some of the balloons are popped with dimensionals to help keep this large card from looking too flat.

The balloon strings are tied off with a Fresh Fig 1/2" Finely Woven ribbon knot adhered with a glue dot.

It was reported to me that the kids thought the card was cool and filled in every square inch on the inside with their messages to their teacher.  I call that a successful project! Challenge complete!

Glam Leaf - Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons

I know I've said it already, probably several times already, but I really like the versatility of the Colorful Seasons stamp set and coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlets.  If you are in need of a stamp set that has images that can be used for many different occasions throughout the year then this is the set for you.

I decided to use one of the leaf images for an all occasion card. I love the delicate lines of this leaf and thought pairing it up with some gold would be a fun way to show it off.  It's got kind of a classy, glam look don't you think?

The layout is really simple with just some square layers and some gold striped vellum which is long retired but still comes in handy.

I used one of the paint swooshes from Work of Art and stamped it in the new In Color, Powder Pink.  I embossed the leaf over the top of the swoosh in gold.  A gold faceted gem in the corner is the only embellishment.

Rustic Christmas - Stampin' Up! Lovely As A Tree

Well it only took my boys about 2.5 hours to complain that they were bored on summer vacation!  Little do they know that I have all sorts of chores for them to complete this summer and saying they're bored just gives me an opportunity to break out my list!  Some day they will learn lol!

While it's very early to complain about summer break it's never too early to start getting ready for Christmas!  I'm not one to be shopping super early or anything like that but I will make Christmas cards all year round when the mood strikes.  I was having some fun with the new Wood Textures DSP and the Colorful Seasons stamp set to make a wintery Christmas card.

The card base is Whisper White thick and then a piece of the fun wood grain pattern.  I embossed some white snowflakes from the Colorful Seasons set.  And also embossed the pine tree from Lovely As A Tree onto a Tranquil Tide oval.  I thought some Cherry Cobbler would compliment the Tranquil Tide and embossed the greeting from Star of Light on a narrow banner.

I popped the banner with dimensionals and used a bit of Cherry Cobbler bakers twine and gold sequin trim to finish off the layout.

Wildflower Hello - Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight

I'm no expert on plants and flowers so I'm totally going out on a limb by saying there are wildflowers on this card but I've used 'daisy' a lot in my titles lately so I needed a change!  The Daisy Delight stamp set, matching punch and coordinating DSP  gives loads of options for stampers of all levels to create gorgeous cards.  I can't wait for the bundle to be back in stock at Stampin' Up! so all of my customers can get theirs hands on it.  It's really not fair that only demos were able to order it....maybe you should become a demo and get in early on new catalog pre-orders **hint hint**.

Another great thing about being a Stampin' Up! demo is the great little community over at Splitcoaststampers.  We have our own demo forum where there is a lot of support, laughs and great ideas.  It is thanks to those great demos at SCS that I learned one of the colors in the Delightful Daisy DSP is a perfect match with Wisteria Wonder.  Stampin' Up! lists coordinating colors of the DSP on the back of the cardboard insert in each pack but Wisteria Wonder isn't listed as one of them.   Whether it is on purpose or a happy accident I am pleased to be able to use Wisteria Wonder with some of these patterns.

The card base is Wisteria Wonder then a panel of Delightful Daisy DSP backed with Night of Navy with corners rounded.

A Night of Navy band across the center anchors the Stitched Shapes framelit and then finally the wildflower daisy.

The daisy is stamped twice in Wisteria Wonder ink and then layered to make a more full flower.  The center is stamped with Daffodil Delight and then popped up with a dimensional.

The 'hello' is from the Tabs for Everything set and is stamped in Night of Navy.

Neapolitan Treats - Stampin' Up! Cool Treats

When I was little, seeing Neapolitan ice cream being served at a party was the best thing ever.  Not having to choose just one flavor of ice cream was such a relief!  I never wanted to pick one flavor and then feel like maybe I should have chosen one of the others.  Ice cream regret can haunt a childhood I tell you!  And then I didn't have to feel guilty for asking for a little of each flavor since they were all in the same carton...so easy for the adult doing the scooping!  We usually make our own ice cream these days but I haven't figured out how to get the Cuisinart ice cream maker to do 3 flavors at once.  I guess I can add that item to my life goals list!

In the meantime I can stamp ice cream in any flavor I want!  We made this card at my May stamp club using the Cool Treats stamp set and the Frozen Treats framelits.

Since we're talking sweets here the card base is Chocolate Chip and then the sprinkles (another one of my favorites) are stamped in Chocolate Chip in on one side of the card! Or do you call sprinkles jimmies?  A very informal poll at the class showed that my stampers all called them sprinkles though a few people had heard them called jimmies.  It must be a regional thing...leave a comment and let me know what you call them and where you're from.  We need to get to the bottom of this!

The Tasty Treat DSP was still available when I designed the card so we used a strip of the Chocolate Chip striped pattern with a Flirty Flamingo ribbon knot.

A Whisper White stitched oval is a nice base on which to adhere our ice cream cones.  The 2 cones on the side have the cones stamped in Crumb Cake and then the fun die cut overlay goes right on top.  These are the perfect pieces to use the fine tip glue pen with.  The ice cream scoops are die cut from Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip with a few sprinkles (jimmies!) stamped on the Chocolate Chip scoop.

The strawberry soft serve cone is die cut in Crumb Cake and the ice cream is stamped first with Blushing Bride with the swirls added in Flirty Flamingo.  This cone is popped with dimensionals to make it stand out a bit more.

Fresh Elephants - Stampin' Up! Tabs for Everything

I'm a few hours later than normal getting my post up today.  I had to be out of the house, as in dressed and presentable in public, much earlier than normal and there just wasn't a way to get both my morning walk in and my blog post written so I did the walk since it's going to be hot here today.  Better to get the exercise out of the way before the temperature gets up to 90!

As soon the I got the new In Colors I started playing with color combinations and I am pleased to say that this group is pretty easy to work into rotation with colors from the regular collection.

Don't overlook this fun new stamp set in the catalog; Tabs for Everything.  There are lots of words to create short sentiments and the itty bitty images are so cute.  Since they are small you'll want to make sure to do a layout where the little images aren't lost or keep it really CAS so they stand out.  Pair it up with the coordinating Circle Tab punch and you've got yourself a great set for many occasions.

I used the sweet elephants on this card in the fresh colors of Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist and outlined with Smoky Slate.  I kept the layout simple and used circle punches to give the elephants a bit more weight. A bit of texture from a square embossed with the Dynanic Hexagons folder.

I thought the elephants in these colors would be cute for a baby girl card so I stamped the "you're adorable" senitment in Basic Gray.

My circle tab punch is in the mail so I'm looking forward to playing with that  and Tabs for Everything stamp set to make more fun designs.

Say Hi with a Rooster - Stampin' Up! Wood Words

Chickens seem to be breaking in the stamping scene the past year or so.  Stampin' Up! has another stamp set with a chicken in it...well to be precise it's a rooster.  I grew up having chickens so believe me this is a rooster.  Wood Words is a fun stamp set with a lot of possibilities and the fact that you can get it as part of a bundle even better.  The other half of the bundle is the adorable Wood Crate framelits.  The crate is the perfect size for gift cards, small treats and 3x3 cards and the additional shapes makes it really easy to cut out the other images in the set to decorate your crate or to make cards with.

I always try to use all 5 new In Colors at my new catalog party and for one of the projects I decided to pair up Tranquil Tide with Powder Pink for a rustic hello friend card.

I used a Tranquil Tide base and stamped the circle along one side also in Tranquil Tide. Then I layered some of the awesome new Wood Textures DSP with a narrow strip of Powder Pink on the edge.  At my new catalog party I had a whole bunch of different patterns cut so my customers could choose the one they like best.  I saw a lot of them having a hard time deciding because all the patterns are great.

The Stitched Shapes framelits have the perfect vibe for a rustic card.   I used a Stitched Shapes circle to go along with the polka dots in the background and stamped some Powder Pink stars across the background and then added the die cut Tranquil Tide rooster popped up.

A little knot made with the Powder Pink 1/2" Finely Woven ribbon finishes off this sweet hello card.

You've Got a Birthday - Stampin' Up! You've Got This - Fab Friday 114

Is it just me or does time fly at warp speed this time of year?  It feels like we just had our spring break  but here we are closing out the 2nd to last week of school.  I have about a thousand (that's a conservative estimate by the way!) things to do before the last day of school and probably no where near enough hours to get them done and definitely no where near enough motivation to get them done.  I am ready for summer vacation to start for sure!  I know I'm not alone in this right?

Something I definitely always have time and morivation for is the latest Fab Friday challenge!  We are back at it again with our annual New In Color challenge!  Hopefully you haven't been under a rock the past month and have already seen and ordered the new In Colors so you can play along.  Even if you've only gotten a few to start with we want you to play along!

I don't know if it's cheating or not but I didn't do any actual stamping with the new In Colors but I did use all 5 inks so that should get me off the hook right?  I made a quick watercolor wash with all the colors and then stamped the big peony from You've Got This over the top and embossed it in copper.  I really like how this one turned out and it's even better that I got to use some retired, some older but still current and some brand new products all on one card.

The new products are of course the In Colors and the woven ribbon which is the Tranquil Tide color but they are all lovely.  The older but current products are the 2 stamp sets I used; You've Got This and Balloon Celebration for the sentiment.  The retired is the decorative label punch that I used to punch out the sentiment.  Since the new Pretty Label punch which is on my wish list is already backordered I have to use what I have for now...

I hope you'll join in with us at Fab Friday and create a new project using the new In Colors and share it with us in our challenge gallery.  Check out the rest of the Design Team for more inspiration!

Fresh Fun Birthday - Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons

Yesterday was a super busy, but fun day as I had my new catalog party and I got to see lots of my stampers and show off lots of new products from the new Annual catalog.  I had a bunch of card samples and luckily several of them are birthday cards as I flipped my birthday calendar yesterday and realized that I am a bit behind in sending out my early June cards.  Oops!  I guess I'm not as organized as I thought!

Here is one new catalog sample card that I made last week.  I had the In Colors out on my stamping desk and was trying out new color combinations and came up with this one that I really like and seems perfect for summer birthdays!  I used Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy and Lemon Lime Twist as the main colors.

I sponged a large oval onto Whisper White cardstock with Bermuda Bay ink. Then I stamped the birthday sentiment from Cool Treats in Night of Navy over part of the oval.  Then I alternated stamping the cute little drink from Colorful Seasons and the sun from Tabs for Everything in Lemon Lime twist on a narrow strip of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

Next is the sling chair from Colorful Seasons with the frame stamped in Soft Suede and the seat in Night of Navy.  I fussy cut the chair, which isn't very fussy at all, and then popped it up on dimensionals.

This is a really great design for mailing as there aren't any lumps or bumps....perfect for a guy's birthday!

Polka Dot Daisy Background - Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight

I'm procrastinating this morning and decided that I had to share a card instead of getting started cleaning the house and setting up for my new catalog party.  It's such a fun time of year for demos and customers alike with so many new products to fall in love with.  But before I can share the fun with my customers the house must be cleaned and party food must be purchased.  There is always some boring, tedious task that has to come before the fun I guess.  Too bad it can't be fun first right?!  That sounds exactly like something my kids would say!  Shhhh....don't tell them I said that!  :)

I was busy last week cranking out more card samples to use at my new catalog party and I saw this really fresh color combination over at Just Add Ink challenge and thought it would be fun to do a background with it.

Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach are great together don't you think?  I started with with a Bermuda Bay card base.  Next up is a panel of Whisper White that I sponged various sizes of circles in the challenge colors.  A few years back we did a bokeh technique card in one of my classes.  I had made templates with window sheets for sponging on circles and of course kept them to use in the future. It came in handy on this card for sure!  Once I had the circles sponged on I stamped over them with the large daisy from the Daisy Delight stamp set.  The black is a great contrast to the bright colors.  I added a few strips of Basic Black cardstock to the top and bottom of the background panel as well to continue the pops of black.

I pulled out my Layering Circles framelits and cut a larger one in Bermuda Bay and a smaller one with my sentiment stamped on it.  The sentiment is in the new set, Just Add Text and is stamped in black.  I used my markers to lightly color the swirls.  A bit of stitched satin ribbon in black goes across the card front and the sentiment circles are popped over the top.

I guess it's back to being a responsible adult now and checking things off the 'to-do' list...Well maybe after another cup of coffee!

Happy Piggy - Stampin' Up! This Little Piggy

I've been so busy creating samples for my New Catalog Party next week that it's hard to decide what to share on my blog each day! I hope my stampers enjoy seeing all the ideas of how to use new stamp sets, dies and the newest set of In Colors.

The This Little Piggy set hasn't seen too much ink since I received it at the Stampin' Up! On Stage event in April but I thought it would be cute for the current Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.

I kept this one pretty simple and let the sweet pig take center stage.

The card base is Whisper White with a panel of Delightful Daisy DSP.  This pattern is in the new Tranquil Tide color and it's a fun watercolor wash look so it isn't too dark or bold for the cheerful feeling of this card.

Next, I stamped the pig in memento black ink and used alcohol markers to color her/him in as well as the flower and grass.  I stamped a few clouds in Tranquil Tide after stamping off once.  Can you see my goof on the top cloud?  The one edge didn't stamp well and normally I would just use my marker to "fix" it but I haven't gotten the new In Color markers yet.  Oh well!  It is handmade afterall right?

To highlight the yellow of the flower I added a bit of the new 3/8" mini chevron ribbon in Crushed Curry.  The feel of this ribbon is nice smooth and I will be getting all the colors available for sure!

Finally, the whole pig panel is popped on dimensionals on the cardfront.  Now to decide who to give this card too!  I might have to make a few more so I can give one to everyone in my family!

Bright Daisy Birthday - Stampin' Up! Daisy Delight

Happy new Stampin' Up! Annual catalog day!  Later today our ordering system will be updated with ALL the new products in the annual catalog!  So exciting!  I have quite a wish list and I know all of my customers do too.  But until we can all place that first order we'll have to be content to see a project using the new Daisy Delight stamp set.

Now this stamp set and coordinating punch were offered in the demo preorder and it was so popular that Stampin' Up! has had to place several rush orders to the manufacturer to get more punches so that our customers can order them too.  So for now you'll just have to pin all the great ideas you see so that when it becomes available again to order you'll have tons of inspiration.

I made this card for one of my delightful customers for her birthday.  She is a gardener so I wanted to do something with flowers and Daisy Delight fit the bill!

I stamped 6 daisies in black and then colored 2 each in my bright colors; Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and the new In Color Berry Burst.  I just used my ink pads with the ink smooshed into the lid and an aquapainter to quickly brush the color on the petals.  After punching them all out I stamped 3 of the centers with the solid stamp in black and then did the texture center stamp in Versamark and embossed with black embossing powder.  I layered the flowers and lightly curled the petals inward with my bone folder (kind of like curling ribbon with scissors).

I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto Berry Burst cardstock using the Sunshine Saying stamp set.  I layered all the flower on top of a Whisper White panel embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

Have fun placing that first order!  If you're in need of a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and don't currently have one I'd be more than happy to help.  Just leave a comment or shoot me an email!
