Bold Birthday Blossom

So what do you think of the new look of Did You Stamp Today?  I'd been thinking for a while that I needed to freshen it up since it was still the original look from June of 2009...yikes!  I played around with MDS to make my own header and I made one and it looked cute but for the life of me I couldn't get it to upload to Blogger correctly.  I looked for tutorials and tips and it just wasn't looking right.  Maybe because I'm on a Mac?  Anyway, I had decided yesterday that I wanted a new blog look and by golly I was going to have one!  I checked out the some of the templates that you can choose from Blogger and created one using the colors I wanted.  Hopefully all the links and such are working correctly.

All my crafting time yesterday was spent on the computer so I'm going to share a card I made on Friday using a fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and a color combination from Hand Stamped Sentiments.

More fun with the free Sale-a-Bration (SAB) Lotus Blossom stamp set.  It was the most popular Sale-a-Bration item with my stamping ladies earlier this month after we used it for this card.

For today's card I only used one color of ink for the flower; Melon Mambo.  The first layer I stamped full strength, the next I stamped off once and the last layer was stamped off twice for the lightest concentration of ink.

I went back to the first stamp that had the most detail on the petals and inked it up with Versamark and stamped right over the top of the image and then used clear embossing power.  It gives a nice raised detail and some extra shine.

I cut out the flower and popped it up with dimensionals onto a Basic Black circle.  The next layer is the Hardwood background stamp in black in on Whisper White cardstock.  While the image is kind of rustic I think it looks crisp in black and white.

The sentiment was stamped next and punched with the Decorative Label punch and a large rhinestone (retired) and black taffeta ribbon complete the sketch.

Thanks for looking!  Did you stamp today?
