Twitterpated Spring Workshop Card

I hope everyone had a wonderful Saturday!  It was very rainy here this morning but it finally cleared up later this afternoon and we ended the day very pleasantly.  It has been so nice here lately that the grass is growing like crazy.  My husband has already mowed 4 or 5 times!  It seems like we've skipped spring and gone right to early summer!  My dogwood trees are blooming and they look fabulous.  I just want to sit at the windows and stare at them!  But alas (I was an English major a loooooong time ago so I like throwing that word out now and then!), there is always something that needs to be done so I can only sit and stare at my pretty trees for a few minutes!  I'll have to take a picture to share, they are too nice to keep to myself.

On to the stamping I'm sure you're saying!  My card today is one that I designed for a workshop that I did this afternoon.  One of my stamping ladies hosted it at her new house.  She was so excited to have the room to host a stamping workshop after being in an apartment for many years.   All of her friends were super sweet and they did a fantastic job on the projects.  It was a very fun afternoon as is any afternoon that involves stamping!

The hostess for the workshop requested an Easter or Spring card so I took my colors from the fun Twitterpated DSP and went from there.  The base is Blushing Bride embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  It was fun seeing the ladies faces when their cardstock went into the Big Shot smooth and came out with the gorgeous pattern!

The flower stamp is from the Bordering on Romance set and is stamped in Basic Gray which I really like as an alternative to Basic Black since it is a bit softer and goes well with a lighter color palette.  The ladies used Blushing Bride, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler and Pear Pizzazz markers to color their image.  It was so fun seeing each of them make the card their own by coloring the image however they liked.  After the coloring was finished the image was punched with with the large circle punch and then layered on a Baja Breeze scalloped circle.

Dimensionals were used to pop up the image panel and a Twitterpated button and baker's twine bow finish off this Springy Easter card.

I hope everyone has a restful Sunday!

Spring Frog Hello

It's going to be another warm day here in the Richmond area!  They are calling for it to be in the low 80s!  My tulips aren't going to last long in this heat....but they sure look pretty right now!  The boys and I even planted some sunflower and zinnia seeds yesterday.  Spring has sprung and seems to be passing quickly by right into summer.  I better make sure I know where our swim suits are!

The card I'm sharing today was created by combining several challenges from Splitcoaststampers (sketch and Virtual Stamp Night) as well as my need for a card to send to the diaconal minister at church.  She's a great lady and is currently in the home stretch of her second pregnancy.  I wanted to tell her how much she was appreciated and to remind her to take care of herself in these last weeks before Baby arrives.

The base is Pool Party that is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder.  I then used 2 narrow strips of Everyday Enchantment DSP (only a little more than a week left to earn this freebie with Sale-a-Bration!).  I anchored 2 ends of the DSP with Island Indigo designer printed brads.  The top brad holds down the sentiment banner.

The frog is stamped with Stazon and watercolored with an Aquapainter and reinkers.  Little froggie is punched out and mounted onto a Pool Party circle and a larger Lucky Limeade scallop circle.  The whole image panel is popped on dimensionals.

The final touch is a small Island Indigo bakers twine bow up near the sentiment.

Do you have anyone you'd like to show your appreciation for?  Go ahead and make them a card and let them know.  All to often we just assume that people know they are appreciated and don't take the time to tell them.  Take some action in the coming days and send a card to make sure your thoughts are known!

Distressed Masculine Birthday

So many stamping projects so little time to blog!  The weather has been so nice here lately that we've been spending a lot of time outside riding bikes, working in the yard and just being out enjoying the warm weather.  When it's this nice it's hard to sit down in front of a screen and write up blog posts.  I guess that's why this card is from my stamp-a-stack last month!  My apologies to my local stamping ladies who might have been wondering about the details of this card!

The base of this card is Crumb Cake and is stamped with the Wonderfully Worn background stamp and Crumb Cake ink.  The next layer is a piece of torn First Edition DSP.  The edges of the DSP are sponged with Crumb Cake too.

The "wish big" hand is from the Bring on the Cake set (so many great birthday sentiments!) and is stamped in Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  The edges of this panel are also sponged with Crumb Cake ink to carry the distressed feeling throughout the card.  A piece of Baja Breeze is used behind the image panel.  The Decorative Label punch was used on Soft Suede cardstock and cut in half and adhered behind the Baja Breeze.  2 silver brads as accents on the edges of the Decorative Label finish off this masculine masterpiece!  Ha!

3x3 Frog Love Note

I'm working on adding my blog feed to my Facebook business page.  I need to post a project to see if the new application is working!  Please bear with me!

Here's a cute card to look at while I'm working on these changes!  =)

St. Patrick's Day Treat

Just a really quick post today....we've got friends coming for dinner tonight and I've got some shopping and cleaning to get done.  I wanted to share this little project since it can only be used once a year!  I made these for my stamping ladies who placed orders last month.

I had more pictures of the group of them but somehow it got deleted!  These are called sour cream containers and they are super easy.  There is a really good tutorial HERE on Splitcoaststampers so I'm not going to go into details about that.  I filled mine with almond Hershey Kisses.  They are the ones in the gold wrappers so I thought that was fitting for St. Patrick's day...kind of like a pot of gold.  I could easily fit 6 kisses into the container.

To make the tag I just used my small heart punch and punched 3 hearts from Wild Wasabi and then I used part of the branch shape from the Bird punch to make the stem.  I glued them all down in a shamrock shape onto a Very Vanilla tag that was matted onto a larger Blush Blossom tag.  The edges of the Very Vanilla tag are sponged a little with Wild Wasabi ink.

The tag is tied onto the sour cream container with Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon.

Have a wonderful St. Patrick's day...we've all got our green on and had green pancakes for breakfast.  What are you doing for day?

Floating Balloon Thank You

I needed to make some thank you cards for gifts I received on my birthday last week and I was looking around for inspiration.  It was after a full day and the boys had just gone to be and that's a time when my creative mojo just isn't at it's highest.  I paged through last months issue of Stampin' Success our monthly demonstrator magazine (another great perk to being a demonstrator!) and saw a sample using the Send Me Soaring set from the Occasions mini.  It's a cute set but I didn't get it when the mini came out.  I decided to make my version of the card using a stamp set that I had.

I wanted to use the same colors that I used on my Clean & Simple Notecard.  I saw these colors together on some bedding in a magazine and really like the fresh combination.  Pool Party, Wild Wasabi and Rich Razzleberry.

I embossed the white clouds on the Pool Party base.  I used my markers to color the balloon from Up, Up & Away and cut it out lickety split with my paper snips.  I used white Baker's Twine to make the string and knot and then adhered it over the clouds with a dimensional.

Next I made some grass with the narrow strip of Wild Wasabi that I cut with the paper snips to make a fringe.  I adhered that down and then used the circle punch to punch out a little spot for my sentiment to peek through.

I hope everyone has a fun weekend and enjoys St. Patrick's day!

Welcome Baby Makenna!

A new baby is always a fun reason to make a card!  I made this one to send to our friends who just had their first, a little girl!  I used the Color Challenge on Create with Connie and Mary from a few weeks ago.  I thought these were great colors to use for a baby girl that wasn't pink! Soft Suede, Pool Party & Wisteria Wonder!

How cute is that little girl owl??  I love making these owls as you can change all the little details and colors and make a different one every time.  For this little girl she's wearing a cute ruffled dress.  I just punch out 3 layers and trimmed the top 2 a bit shorter.  Some adhesive pearls and a bow made from the mini heart on the owl punch finishes off her girlie details.

I the "m" is die cut from textured cardstock....hard to see here but it adds a lot to the card.  I punched some itty bitty flowers and used a matching button on the lower left corner.  The Pool Party ruffled ribbon anchors the "m".

The jewelry tag punch, vintage trinket brad and adhesive rhinestone make up the sentiment.

Embossed Easter

I just realized that I haven't shared any of my Creative Crew projects for March yet!  The Creative Crew is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators on Splitcoaststampers who design projects for a set of challenges each month to highlight the awesome Stampin' Up! products that are available.  Anyone can play along and if you upload to Splitcoaststampers just add the challenge code to the keywords so that it gets included in the Creative Crew gallery.  The challenge code for my card today is CCREW0312DF and the challenge was to use the colors Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Daffodil Delight.

I embossed the the flowers from the Field Flowers with white e.p. onto watercolor paper. I used my Aquapainter and reinkers to color in the image. I used a bit of So Saffron and Daffodil Delight on the flower centers and Blushing Bride around the large flower. I didn't try to be careful or overly concerned with the lines I just painted in and around the embossing.

For a little bit of fun I added a Beautiful Wings embosslit butterfly in Daffodil Delight onto the flower with a little pearl as an accent.

The sentiment from Delightful Dozen is also embossed with white e.p. onto Crumb Cake cardstock. I punched it out with the scalloped oval punch and popped it up with a dimensional.  Since the little pearls are irresistible I added a few to the scallops.

I added a layer of Twitterpated DSP in the Blushing Bride pattern to the card base and added some So Saffron scallop edges.

The final touches are the pleated Blushing Bride ribbon and the Daffodil Delight flower button with a pearl.

Happy New House!

Last month one of my stamping ladies bought her first house and she asked me to help her design a change of address card to send out to friends and family.  I got to go see her new house and of course I didn't show up empty handed!  A new house is an exciting thing and should be properly celebrated with stamped gifts of course!

First, I wrapped some Everyday Enchantment DSP around a little mini jar candle.  I stamped the flower from Fresh Vintage in Poppy Parade and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.  I layered that on a 1 3/8" punched Lucky Limeade circle.  I used some rhinestones in the center of the flower and then turned it into a tag by punching a small hole and using Lucky Limeade baker's twine to tie it to the jar.

For the card I used a Crumb Cake base which I distressed a bit with the spritzer tool.  Another piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP and a length of Poppy Parade twill ribbon (if you love this ribbon get more of it now as it will be retiring in a few months!) went on the card front.  I used a retired Sale-a-bration set from a few years ago for the image.  Good Neighbors is such a cute little set with mix and match houses and roofs with several different tree styles and an adorable cloud.  I have hung onto this set exactly for occasions like these.

The house on the card is stamped in Poppy Parade and the roof is Crumb Cake.  I stamped the tree in Lucky Limeade and then colored in some of the "apples" with my Poppy Parade marker.  The cloud is Pool Party.  I punched the little scene out with my large circle punch and then layered it on a large scallop circle.  I paper pierced the scallops and then popped the whole thing up with dimensionals.

You can read more about the glass magnets HERE and HERE.  I just put them in a small cello bag and tied it off with another length of Poppy Parade twill ribbon.

This was such a cute little ensemble I think I'll be making more for all the new neighbors that will be moving into our neighborhood.  Almost all of the empty lots have been sold and one new house is almost complete.  I better get moving and find some more little candles and start stamping!

Bright & Cheerful Birthday

I just finished making my weekly menu and shopping list.  It's so hard for me to come up with meal ideas when I'm not hungry.  I check the grocery store flier to see what's on sale, I look on Food Network to see if anything jumps out at me, I browse my (very large) file of saved recipes trying to come up with 5 or so meals for the week.  I even looked on Pinterest tonight for some ideas and we all know what a black hole that can be.  I actually found a few ideas so it wasn't a complete waste of time!  Do you have any favorite meals you like to make?  I need more ideas and I'd love to try your recipes!

On to the stamping!  This is a card that I designed for my Stamp-a-Stack last month.  The theme was birthdays and this is the one I came up with that was kind of geared towards kids.

The base is Tempting Turquoise and then a layer of Whisper White that has score lines right above the piece of Big Top Birthday DSP.  I love the Simply Scored for making even score lines like this and now that there is the diagonal plate the possibilities are endless!  A length of 1/4" Real Red grosgrain ribbon is tied around the card front.

The Happy Birthday cake is from the Bring on the Cake set and is stamped in Stazon and punched out with the large circle punch.  It is layered on a Tempting Turquoise scallop circle.  The Brights Collection flower button with bakers twine is added with a glue dot.  The cake panel is popped up on dimensionals.

I really like this card as it has bright colors and is very cheerful but not overwhelmingly busy.  You have to be careful to make sure you have enough white or open space on a card that uses this many bright colors and has a somewhat busy pattern on the DSP.  The Whisper White panel with the score lines and the the crisp black cake/sentiment help keep everything pulled together without hurting your eyes!

Don't forget to share your favorite dinner recipes!  My family will thank you too!

Thank You Bench

This a card that I made that combines 2 challenges from this week.  The layout is from Mojo Monday and the color combination is from ColourQ.  There's still some time to play along.  Grab your supplies and see what you come up with!

I used the 2 Tags die to make the tag out of Certainly Celery.  This particular tag is too long to be used on the card front in this layout so I just trimmed the end off and then used my corner rounder punch to re-round (is that even a word??) the corners.

The bench is stamped in Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White cardstock.  I sponged the edges in Chocolate Chip so the white wouldn't be so bright!  I added a few coordinating punched flowers with pearl centers in the lower corner.  The top of the tag uses the Blossom Bouquet Triple punch for the flower at the top.  I added a Certainly Celery button with baker's twine for more detail.

The banner is hand cut from Everyday Elegance DSP and I added a few more pearls to the end.  Above the banner is a strip of Blushing Bride that is paper pierced.  Above that is half of a scallop circle with the thank you sentiment.  I pierced each scallop and sponged the edges to help tie it in with the other elements of the card.

The card base is Chocolate Chip embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  The Mojo Monday sketches always stretch my imagination since they usually use a lot more elements and layers than I would normally think to use.  I can't decide if this whole card works or not....I like certain parts but others I'm not so sure about!  Oh well....they can't all be blue ribbon winners right?

More Glass Magnets for School Valentine's

So I posted about these Everyday Enchantment Glass Magnets the other day.  I have some more magnets to share today.  These are ones that Ryan and I made together for his class Valentine's last month.  He had a great time using the Big Shot, the punches and glue!

These are made almost the same way as the Everyday Enchantment Glass Magnets but Ryan punched out a small heart from Red Glimmer paper that we glued down onto the DSP before adhering it to the Multipurpose Adhesive sheets.  Make sure to put the pattern you want to show on the magnet face down onto the adhesive sheets.  Then we punched out circles using the 1 1/4" circle punch.  Using the bone folder we burnished the DSP onto the back of glass rock.  Then we glued the magnets to the back. The sparkly heart looks really cute!

We used the 2 Tags die and Real Red cardstock to make the name tags.  He LOVES to use the Big Shot, I made the sandwich and he cranks it through.  Ryan's teacher provided the hearts with each students name.  He cut those out all by himself and glued them to the tags.  Next we printed out the greeting which says, "Valentine, I'm stuck on you!"  I thought it was slightly clever since they were magnets but then again I'm quite easily amused!  Ryan glued those on the tag as well.  We used Real Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon to attach the tag to the small cello bag.

Here is the girls version....Pink for girls, Blue for boys!  We used some old 6x6 Sale-a-bration DSP from a few years back.  Welcome Neighbor I think.  Anyway, the paper has cute little hearts all over it that you can't see well in the photo.

He wrote "From Ryan" on the back of each tag.  We had to do this part in several sittings since his handwriting went seriously downhill after 7 or 8!  He was so proud of this project he wanted to make several extras to hand out to other teachers and aides!  His backpack was super heavy the day he brought them into school!

This was a fun and easy project to make with a kindergartener.  We did it over the course of several days and had fun doing it together.

Pretty Spring Birthday Flowers

Super quick post today....Lots to get done and not a lot of time!

My stamping ladies made this card last week at my Birthday Stamp-a-Stack.  This is the feminine card of the 3 designs that I had.

The base is So Saffron with a layer of Whisper White that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  The flower image is from the Bordering on Romance set in the Occasions Mini catalog.  It is stamped in Basic Gray.  I like Basic Gray instead of black for outline images sometimes since it's not so harsh and since we were using spring colors I didn't want to overwhelm them with black.

The flowers are colored in with Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz markers.  An adhesive pearl is in the center of each flower though it looks like my smallest pearl has come off my sample!  I guess that's what happens when you have 17 ladies taking a closer look at the sample!

The image is mounted on a layer of Wisteria Wonder.  Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon is the last detail on this card.  The inside has a birthday sentiment from the Bring on the Cake set.

It was nice to get a little stockpile of birthday cards made (I even made a few extras for myself!) and I think the ladies had fun too!

Clean & Simple Notecard

I hope I'm back in the swing of blogging!  I've actually stamped the last few days so I have some current projects to show you!

I made a card for the Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week.  The challenge was to create a CAS (clean and simple) monogrammed card.  Now I know that traditionally monograms have the 3 letters and all but I knew that wasn't going to fit on my card....that and the fact that I don't have any alphabet sets at the moment!  I know????  Can you believe that?  The last alphabet set that I had retired and I just haven't liked any of the new ones enough to buy another set.  At this point I think I'm going to hold out and see what is in the new catalog when it comes out.  So I decided to use my alphabet dies and just use my first initial.

It was really hard to get a decent photo of this card.  All that white space!  The base is Whisper White to keep everything going along with the CAS feeling.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the stamp perfectly on another smaller layer of Whisper White.  I used the border stamp from Fresh Vintage and the colors are Wild Wasabi, Rich Razzleberry and Pool Party.  I saw these colors on some bedding in a home decorating magazine and thought they would rock on a card....they do!

Next I used the Simple Alphabet die to cut out my "a".  I used Whisper White textured cardstock instead of the smooth for the letter to give some more dimension to the card.  I added a Rich Razzleberry brad to the bottom of the "a" and then mounted the whole panel on the base using dimensionals.

I hope you can play along with this Splitcoaststampers challenge and create you own CAS Monogrammed card!  Don't forget that there are only a few weeks left to get Sale-A-Bration rewards with each $50 you spend!  Let me know if you need help deciding....I know it can be hard to choose!

Everyday Enchantment Glass Magnets

I had planned to post this project yesterday but my kids had a snow day for all of 1.5 inches of snow that never even stuck to the roads or sidewalks!  I know the schools are just being cautious but it seems that they call school off without even looking outside sometimes.  We had fun playing in the snow and it was good thing we went out in the morning as by 3pm it was all melted.  Needless to say, having both boys at home all day I never had a chance to sit down and focus on a blog post.

I made these magnets last month as a thank you for my customers.  They were fun and easy to do and I think they came out pretty cool....but maybe that's because I'm in love (shhhhhh, don't tell my husband!) with the Sale-a-bration Everyday Enchantment DSP.  This photo shows just a portion of the ones I made.  I got a little punch happy when I was making them.  I still have a few left!

These were very easy to make but I did learn a few things along the way.  The first being that these glass rocks that I got at the Dollar Store (I've also seen them at Ben Franklin) are pretty heavy.  They are around 1 1/4 inches across.  First I cut circles from the Stampin' Up! magnets sheet using the Circles #2 die.  The magnet sheets circles held up the glass rocks but as soon as I tried to use the magnet to hold up a piece of paper (the whole point of a magnet right?) it started sliding down my fridge.  The glass rocks were just too heavy!  Back to the drawing board...I ended up getting stronger magnets from a craft store and they work great.  I know the magnets sheets would work great on other projects just not these due to the weight.

First, I started with some Everyday Enchantment DSP and the Stampin' Up! adhesive sheets.  I cut several strips of DSP and peeled off the backing on one side of the adhesive sheets and then pressed the DSP into the adhesive sheet.  Then I used my 1 1/4" circle punch to punch through my DSP/adhesive sheet sandwich.

Next, I peeled off the backing and pressed the circle onto the flat back of the glass rocks.  I used my bone folder to burnish the back of the paper to make sure that everything adhered really well.  Then I glued the magnets to the back.

Of course I had to package them up all pretty!  I just used the small cello bags and then added a tag punched with the tag punches, Fresh Vintage stamp set (SAB), and the sentiment is from Pennant Parade.  Everything is tied together with the 1/8" Sale-a-bration ribbon.

Sweet Gnome Invitation

Wow!  Have I been slacking on the blog posts lately or what??  The last week and half have been super busy with stamp-a-stack, Creative Crew projects, sick kids and all the regular day to day stuff in there too.  Blog posting just kind of fell by the wayside!  I do have lots of projects to share and I hope things have calmed down enough for me to have time to begin sharing them on a somewhat more regular schedule.

I made this card back at the end of January to invite people to my Stampin' Up! Open House in the beginning of February.  I was happy with the turn out and I think several of the attendees might have caught the stamping bug!  It's so fun to watch new stampers eyes light up when they see all the possibilities of ink and paper!

I made about 10 of these invitation so I was keeping them fairly simple.  The gnome (love him!) and frog are stamped in Stazon and then colored with inkpads and blender pen.  I punched them out with the scallop circle punch and then paper pierced each scallop.  Some people aren't loving the Gnome Sweet Gnome set but I think it's cute and it's fun to watercolor or paper piece.  It's in the Occasions Mini so don't miss out if you love gnomes too!

The card base is Pacific Point which I don't use nearly enough!  I layered a piece of Whisper White that was embossed using the Stripes embossing folder (this folder is a Sale-a-Bration choice until March 31).  I tied a length of Daffodil Delight 1/8" taffeta ribbon around a strip of Lucky Limeade DSP and added that to the card front.

I popped the gnome panel up with dimensionals and added a little flower to the gnomes hand made from the Itty Bitty flower punch and the Lucky Limeade center was punched with the owl punch.
