Split Tulips - Stampin' Up!® Sunshine & Tulips

 Sometimes I buy a bundle and then poof it's retired before I feel like I really got to use it (or that the season finally matches up with the theme of the set!).  That's what happened to the Sunshine & Tulips bundle; the dies have recently retired and I feel like we are just now getting into tulip season!  Oh well.  Remind me to make more spring flower cards in January next year! But I'm happy with how this card turned out so I wanted to share it anyway!

  I wanted to use the upcoming new In Colors on another card so I used 4 of the 5 here.  The layout is inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  The scale of my images isn't quite the same size as the graphic but hopefully you can see the general idea of the 6 panels.

  I started with a Peaceful Pine card base, then die cut the full tulip panel in another piece of Peaceful Pine and cut it down to the 2 middle rows.  I edged the top and bottom with a length of Peaceful Pine Bordered ribbon.

Next, I used the large tulip panel die again and cut out 2 flowers in each of the other 3 new In Colors; Crisp Cantaloupe, Hydrangea Hue and Barely Blush.  Then I snipped each one in half and used the dark Blends marker of each color to darken half of the flower.  I put them back together with a dimensionals so each flower has a half and half look.  This is a great way to get a darker version of your cardstock when you need just that little bit darker shade for a project.

  Then I die cut the separate leaves and and darkened them also with the dark Peaceful Pine Blends marker and adhered them to the leaves on the card front.

  Finally I added the sentiment and some Crisp Cantaloupe 2026-2028 In Color Dots.
