Gathering Moment Distressed Background - Stampin' Up!® Gathering Moments

I got on Facebook this morning and did a live stamping session with the new Gathering Moments stamp set.  I showed how to make this easy distressed background with a fun angled cut.  You can find this bundle (and more coordinating products) in the Online Exclusives.  The layout is one that I gave my customers as a challenge so I wanted to get a sample made to show it in use.

Even though Stampin' Up! has a ton of beautiful DSP to work with sometimes it's just fun to make our own which is what I did with this panel.  I pulled out a few colors with a bit of a fall feel and just got to stamping.

I did a few different things to get some distressing on this panel and I love how the distressed texture and layers add so much more interest than just having a flat panel.  And the angled cuts add even more interest.

Check out the video to see how this card comes together:

Snowy Stencil - Stampin' Up!® Snowy Delights

The current Just Us Girls challenge has us using stencils this time around.  And it was the perfect prompt for me to pull out my new Snowy Delights bundle that includes a stamp set, a die set and masks (stencils).  This is the first card I've made using this set of products but it certainly won't be the last!

Since this was the first time seeing ink for this set I kept the color combo basic just so I could play around.  I started with a Lost Lagoon base and then since I wanted the large snowflake to be the star of the show I stamped it just off center on a piece of Basic White and then filled in the open space around it with partial snowflakes.  I used Pretty Peacock ink for a nice bold outline.

Then I pulled out the masks and lined the first one up with the full snowflake and blended on Pool Party ink, the next 2 layers are Lost Lagoon and finally the last mask with the smaller details is used with Pretty Peacock ink.

I wrapped a length of retired Iridescent Striped Trim around the panel and adhered it to the card front.  A simple label cut with the Traditional Labels dies is perfect for the sentiment which is then popped on dimensionals.

Using the smaller snowflake dies in the die set I cut some from the new Peaceful Garden Glimmer paper and added them around the card front. Finally a few retired gems finish off this blue/green snowflake card.

Black and White Birthday - Stampin' Up!® Impressions Abloom Dies

If you're a regular visitor here at Did You Stamp Today? you'll know that I'm always up for making a card for a challenge and today's card really had me going in a different direction from my normal style.  The Seize the Birthday challenge has us focusing on 'Black and White' for a birthday card.  I looked at all of my stamps and really nothing was an automatic choice; no panda bears, no penguins or puffins, no old timey vibe stamp set so I went with flowers because when in doubt go with flowers lol!

It's kind of a stark look and I so wanted to add a pop of color somewhere but I can follow directions when I want to so I stuck with just black and white.  The background paper is retired Pattern Party DSP in a nice small polka dot.

The Impressions Abloom dies seemed like a good choice for the flowers and stems as they have the nice texture dies to give each shape some more detail which I thought was needed with so much white.  Have to add interest in other ways besides color!

The oval frame dies are used for the base with the background in Basic Black and embossed with the Forever Plaid embossing folder and the edge detail in Basic White.

The sentiment is a simple band and the stamp is from the Simply Said set.  I embellished very simply with a few Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems in black.
