Easy Peaceful Christmas - Stampin Up!® Peaceful Garden DSP

The New at SU blog hop team is back with another great (and timely) group of projects!  We have Stampin' Up!® demos from around the world sharing the theme of "Simply Christmas" this month!  If you find yourself behind in your Christmas preparations we've got some great, easy ideas to get you on your creative way!  You can hop all the way through with us by following the links at the bottom of my post!

I always need a lot of Christmas cards and as I get closer to having to actually get them in the mail I always find that I need a few more. An easy way to make a stack of cards in no time at all is to cut some of the paper at the same time and let the DSP do all the work!  I'm using the Peaceful Garden DSP and there is minimal stamping to keep the project moving along.

You can check out the below video I made a few years ago about how to cut the DSP to make the easy background for 3 cards.  This is a tried and true technique that I go back to year after year.  I kept my first card very simple with a sentiment from the Wishing You Joy stamp set on a Traditional Labels die cut and some ribbon and Drusy embellishments.

If you wanted to step up the basic card a little bit but keep the same DSP background you could add a Snowy Delights snowflake die cut behind the label.

And finally if you still wanted easy but maybe a bit more 'wow' you could add just a little more!  On this last card I embossed the sentiment in white, changed the label color (but still the same label die), added another snowflake but in vellum cardstock and upgraded the ribbon to Misty Moonlight Silver Edged ribbon.

All in all this is a very simple set of cards to get you well on your way to being ready for Christmas!  Check out the rest of the New at SU! team for their fantastic ideas for "Simply Christmas" by following the links below!

Snowy Shoebox Swap - Stampin' Up!® Snowy Delights

A few weeks back I hosted a shoebox swap and lunch for my team because it's always a great thing to get together with stampy friends.  We had a good time stamping and laughing and chatting and I've already scheduled the next one for January. You have time to join my team and come stamp with us just saying!  I realized that while I shared all of the cards we made on my Instagram stories back then I never shared my card with details.  And seeing how we are getting closer to Christmas I thought you might like some more ideas!

I used some of the Christmas sets that have been out for a while and I also used a new stamp that came out with the November Online Exclusives.  The Lasting Linen stamp is a beautiful background stamp to add "texture" to your cardstock using ink!  I love it!

I started with a Misty Moonlight card base.  A layer of Cloud Cover is stamped with the Lasting Linen background using Pool Party ink since we don't have full size Cloud Cover ink pads.  Then I stamped the big snowflake from the Snowy Delights stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink in each corner.

The Traditional Label die set was used to cut a Basic White label and the "merry" and "wishes" are stamped in Misty Moonlight ink at the top and bottom.  You can find all the sentiments in the Traditional Labels stamp set.  Before adhering the label a bit of Misty Moonlight silver edged ribbon is looped behind it.  You could swap out the Christmas sentiment for a Happy New Year one or even a birthday sentiment for a winter birthday.

The big "Christmas" is stamped in Versamark on a strip of Misty Moonlight and embossed in silver before being popped on dimensionals in the space between the other words.

I dug around in my retired embellishments and found these white adhesive sequins so I added a few to finish off the details on this card.

Note of Thanks - Stampin' Up!® Just a Note

Before I get too deep into Christmas I better get some of these last fall cards shared!  I designed this card for my customer thank you's for October and it also uses a color combination that I challenged my customers to use on my private customer Facebook page.  The Gathering Moments stamp set is perfect for adding some cute seasonal accents to the the Just a Note panel with the fun notebook paper look.

I started with a Basic White thick card base and then used the Textured Notes dies to cut a panel of Wildflower Birthday DSP (on sale now!).  Next I stamped the paper lines and then die cut the panel.  The sentiment is stamped in Pecan Pie and is in a new set called Banner Sayings.  It has a coordinating banner punch which is fantastic if you're not a fan of doing flagged ends yourself!

The little fall images are stamped in Pecan Pie, Calypso Coral and Peach Pie and after they are die cut are added to opposite corners of the notebook paper.

A bakers twine bow and some faceted gems finish off this sweet thank you card.

Polar Bear Patchwork - Stampin' Up!® Jolly Delivery

It seems that just a few days off of my regular stamping routine really throws a wrench in my blogging!  Last week I was out of town for a few days, then the weekend was filled with non-stamping activities and here I am just now getting around to sharing a card my stampers made last month at class!  We used the adorable Jolly Delivery stamp set and paired it with the Peaceful Garden DSP for a sweet patchwork  Christmas card!

This one starts with a Misty Moonlight base, then a layer of Basic White then the Peaceful Garden DSP in various sizes.

Measurements starting at the top left going clockwise:

2 2/3" x 1 3/4"

1 1/2" x 2 1/4" (Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper)

2 1/4" 2 1/4"

2 3/4" x 2"

This is a great background to use with any DSP especially if you have a lot of coordinating ones that are smaller scraps.  Use up every last bit!

Next is a Cloud Cover label die cut with the Traditional Labels dies and embossed with the new Beautiful Pattern embossing folder.

The bear is stamped in Memento black and then die cut.  The gifts are colored in with Stampin' Blends and then the bear is popped on dimensionals on top of the label.

The sentiment is stamped and die cut with another one of the Traditional Labels dies.  The embellishments are added at the end with a Drusy Adhesive-backed embellishment and a bit of Misty Moonlight & Silver Edged Ribbon.

CAS Gold Star Noel - Stampin' Up!® Ornamental Christmas Dies

Today is new challenge day over at CAS Colours & Sketches and this time we've got a color (or colour!) combo for you to try your hand at while keeping your design clean and simple!  I thought they were perfect for a Christmas card but I'm super excited to see what you come up!

As soon as I saw the combo I knew for sure I was going to try for a Christmas card because I really need to make a lot more at this point and that will probably be my main focus for a few more weeks!  I let the gorgeous star die from the Ornamental Christmas die set do all the work for this design!

I started with a Basic White card base then layered a piece of retired Textured 12x12 Shimmer paper in Shaded Spruce with a piece of retired Real Red Glimmer paper.

The gold foil star comes next and is popped with dimensionals and then the sentiment from Wishing You Joy stamp set stamped in Shaded Spruce and fussy cut.

Clean and simple it is!  Don't forget to head over to CAS Colours & Sketches to get inspired by the rest of the design team and then share your creation in the gallery!

Jolly Christmas Tree - Stampin' Up!® Ornamental Christmas

It's always fun to take a stamp set in a completely different direction from what may be shown in a catalog or online samples.  I've used the Ornamental Christmas bundle in a bunch of different ways and I love the black and gold look of the Modern Christmas DSP that coordinates with this bundle but I went in the opposite direction with today's card!  It is bright and colorful and gives a more playful vibe in this design!

I started off with a background of Basic White embossed with the Traditional Wreath embossing folder. Then I created my own striped panel by pulling out some narrow scraps of Berry Burst, Granny Apple Green, Azure Afternoon and adhering them to a panel of Basic White.  I varied the widths in between each strip on purpose so I didn't have to be super precise.  I backed this panel with a piece of Azure Afternoon and wrapped a bit of retired ribbon around it and then popped the whole thing on the card front with dimensionals.

The tree is stamped in Versamark onto Granny Apple Green then embossed in white.  Once it was die cut I added it to a Stylish Shape circle with dimensionals and added that to the card front.  A smaller circle die cut is used for the sentiment which is stamped in Azure Afternoon.

Finally I decorated the tree with some retired Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs which worked perfectly as ornaments!

Framed Christmas Tree - Stampin' Up! Ornamental Christmas

I've been away from the stamp room the last few days on a trip out of state for college tours with my youngest so I don't have anything new to share but I do have a card that my local stampers got to make at my last class.  They loved learning the partial die cut technique and it seemed pretty popular when I shared it in a few videos as well.

I love the dramatic look of the black, white and gold of the Modern Christmas DSP so I designed the card to highlight the die cutting technique and also the paper.  This one starts with a Basic White thick card base and then a wide strip of Basic Black cardstock.  Next is a panel of the DSP.

The Christmas tree is stamped in Versamark on a Basic Black rectangle.  It's positioned just up and to the right from center leaving about an inch at the bottom.  After embossing it in gold it's time to do the die cutting!

The trick is really easy to get a partial die cut!  All you do is position the tree die around the image as usual and then you out the top cutting plate on but don't cover the whole image.  For this example the top cutting plate covers the top of the tree down to the lower branches and leaves the trunk uncovered.  Now when you put the sandwich through the die cutter everything cuts but the part that is uncovered by the top plate so the die doesn't get pressed down to finish the whole outline.  So easy.

The next part that really elevates the look is using the second largest square die in the Stylish Shapes die set.  Gently slide the square die behind the partially die cut Christmas tree making sure to align it evenly to create a nice frame behind the tree.  Now just run it through the die cutter as you usually would. I used a lot of dimensionals to adhere this panel to make sure nothing sagged and the window was supported.

Measurements for the parts are as follows from back to front:

black vertical band - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2"

DSP - 3 3/4" x 4 3/4"

black panel for tree - 3 1/4" x 4 1/4"

sentiment - 3 1/2" x 1/2"

You can see this all come together in this quick video and it also shows one of the other patterns from the Modern Christmas DSP.

The rest of the card is just the gold foil stars, embossed sentiment and a bit of white and gold twine tied in a bow for the top of the tree.

A Little Cheer Wreath - Stampin' Up!® A Little Cheer

Last week on my Facebook Live I made this sweet wreath card using the Traditional Wreath embossing folder and the A Little Cheer stamp and punch bundle.  It was a fun card to put together and I love how the little Christmas images look on the wreath!  And the colors are fab too if I do say so myself!

I've linked the video below if you'd like to see how this card comes together.  I share some tips and tricks that might come in handy for your own stamping.

The gold accents add even more festive spirit to this card!

Fall Moments - Stampin' Up!® Gathering Moments

I'm still finding fun ways to use the fall Gathering Moments stamp set and coordinating Gathering Together DSP.  I used the Tic Tac Toe challenge for my starting point for this one with the lefthand down column of Leaves, Thanks Sentiment and Twine.

This design started when I was going through my DSPs to see what I maybe hadn't used in a bit and I came across some small scraps of the Wood Textured specialty paper that I thought would look nice with the Gathering Together DSP.  The Wood Textured paper comes in white but is super easy to make it whatever color you want with an ink pad and blending brushes.  I made this panel Basic Beige to go with the colors from the DSP and added an Early Espresso twine bow across the middle.

I stamped some of the images from the Gathering Moments stamp set in the DSP colors and then die cut and popped them up on different sizes of Spotlight on Nature dies circles.

The little sentiment banner is Cajun Craze and stamped with Early Espresso ink and a new set released today; Banner Sayings.  This is a really cute set with smaller sentiments and a coordinating banner punch that will be quite handy!  A few Cajun Craze and Gold dots finish the details.

Winter Woodland - Stampin' Up!® Woodland Scenery

The Freshly Made Sketches challenge seemed like the perfect layout to use with the Woodland Scenery stamp set.  The curved piece just said 'snowy hill' to me so I made a sweet little winter scene using the other stamps in the set for the circle elements!

I started with a Basic White thick card base and then embossed a panel of  Basic White with the retired Snowflake Sky embossing folder.  Then I drew some gently rolling hills on another piece of Basic White and trimmed along the pencil line.  I blended a bit of Pool Party ink along the edge of the hills to help define it against the snowy sky.

I curved the sentiment on the block to follow the curve of the hill and stamped it in Pool Party.  The trees, house and deer are stamped, fussy cut and then added to the card front with dimensionals.

The final detail is a single rhinestone added by the sentiment as I wanted to keep the design on the simple side.

Frosty Snowflake - Stampin' Up!® Snowy Delights

I got to show off the Snowy Delights bundle at my last class and we made this frosty layered snowflake that really makes a statement!

It starts with a Balmy Blue base and then a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square of Basic White is for all of the stamping/ink blending.  The large snowflake from the Snowy Delights stamp set is used along with Gorgeous Grape ink for a big snowflake image.

In class we used the #1 and #3 masks (which are included with the stamp set) to lightly blend Balmy Blue and Highland Heather inks to fill in the snowflake.

Next using the newly re-released vellum paper (now it comes in 12x12!!!)  a smaller die cut snowflake is layered on top of the stamped one.

The sentiment is stamped in Gorgeous Grape on a strip of Basic White, backed with a narrow strip of Gorgeous Grape and then some Balmy Blue sheer ribbon is looped behind for some gorgeous texture and layers. The whole piece is then popped on dimensionals.

Finally a few Frosted Iridescent Dots are added for the finishing touch.  3 of the 4 colors in this set of dots match the colors of this card so the mix and match possibilities were fun to play with in class!

Gathering Maple Hello - Stampin' Up!® Gathering Moments Dies

As we look forward to the weekend and maybe not having as much time as we'd like to create some fall cards I've got a design that you can make in no time at all!  This one came about from an orphaned card part left from this project and a challenge that is long over to make a clean and simple card with a leaf or leaves.  The large maple leaf die in the Gathering Moments die set really does all the heavy lifting here!

I started with a Basic Beige base and then another layer of Basic Beige cut with the Textured Notes dies.  The Cajun Craze leaf left over from another project has the accent holes cute and then I used a Cajun Craze Blends marker to make the vein lines.  It's popped on dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Blooming Phrases stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso on a 1/2" strip of Basic White.

Since it's a CAS card the only embellishment is the Early Espresso twine bow on the leaf stem.

If you're hosting for Thanksgiving this design would be cute as a place card with the name instead of the sentiment!

Banner Rose - Stampin' Up!® Layers of Beauty

The CAS Colours & Sketches challenge is back with a great layout for this challenge.  A banner is always a great element on a card and the "any shape" feature really makes this a versatile sketch!  I can't wait to see what you make for it!

I decided to do some black and white with a pop of color for my shape!  I used the Layers of Beauty bundle and a set that is coming in November called Banner Sayings.

I simply stamped the large floral stamp onto the banner in Memento ink then stamped the image again focusing on the one rose that has a matching die.  I added color using the masks and then die cut the flower and popped it on the banner with dimensionals lining it up with the same image.

The sentiment is stamped and embossed in white onto Basic Black with a sequin accent to finish off this clean and simple design.

Check out the rest of the Design Team samples and then add yours to our gallery!

Christmas Banner Shaker - Stampin' Up!® A Little Cheer

I'm going back in the files today and sharing a card I made when I was trying to come up with a card for my guest spot with Stampin' Through the Catalog (see the card I ended up sharing HERE).  I had come up with the color combo and was trying out some different designs and this was one that didn't make the cut in the end but it's still a fun shaker card for Christmas.

I started with a Petunia Pop card base.  Next I added a layer of Old Olive that is stamped with the gifts from the A Little Cheer stamp set.  I put both images on the same clear block and just stamped them in rows until the whole background was filled.

I made a little shaker element with the Party Banners dies, a window sheet and foam strips.  For the shaker filling I had a lot of little punch outs from the A Little Cheer mini punches from playing with ideas for the guest designer card so I just swept them up from my desk and added a few loose gold sequins and added the shaker frame to the card front.

The sentiment is made with the Traditional Label bundle and then banner die cut is the perfect size to span across the shaker window.

A gold thread bow is the only embellishment for this card.

Extraordinary Purple and Green Birthday - Stampin' Up!® Extraordinary Flora

I made today's card a few weeks ago but since it was for my mother-in-law I couldn't share it until after I knew she had gotten it.  She's a big purple fan so I always try to make her card with at least some purple.  Well as you can see this one is full on purple!  The Extraordinary Flora stamp set made a perfect background!

Please excuse the poor photo!  By the time I realized the photo wasn't the best the card was well on it way through the USPS system but I hope you get the gist anyway!

I used Gorgeous Grape for the base, then I die cut a large Basic White panel with the Textured Notes dies for a nice detail along the edges.

I stamped the Extraordinary Flora stamp twice to cover the panel and then colored them in with Stampin' Blends.

The sentiment is from the retired Sweetly Scripted set.  I highlighted the sentiment strip with 2 large flowers from the Month By Month stamp set that comes in the Month By Month Album Retreat (which is still available and a fabulous way to get a ton of pages made in a really fun format!).  Once the flowers were colored in I fussy cut them and popped them on dimensionals.

A few retired Gorgeous Grape faceted gems and a Fresh Freesia seam binding fork bow are the final details.

Gold Spotted Pumpkins - Stampin' Up!® Around It All Dies

There isn't much on my card today that is current product but I just had to make some gold spotted pumpkins after seeing the inspiration photo 2 week ago over at the Inspired By challenge.  The gold spots, the pink and the sweet "boo" were too cute not to use on a card.  I didn't get my card made until after the challenge ended but in case you still need to make a few halloween cards I wanted to share it anyway.

I started with a Basic White thick card base, then a piece of Basic Black topped with a piece of Basic White embossed with the Forever Plaid embossing folder.

To make the pumpkins I used the recently retired Around It All dies and cut 2 wonky circles from retired Silver & Gold Specialty paper.  The largest and smallest are colored with Petal Pink ink and a blending brush.  The stems are all hand cut from retired Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty paper.  I popped the small pumpkin on dimensionals.

The 'boo' is die cut from black glimmer paper and Alphabet a la Mode dies and I just adhered them directly to the large pumpkin.

A few gold sequins finish off the details.  I hope you have a Halloween as fun as this card!

Fall Gratitude - Stampin' Up!® Gathering Moments

I had some sweet inspiration from the Just Us Girls challenge for today's card.  They have a cute graphic with lots of fall items to inspire cards.  I liked the little fall leaves as well as the color palette so I translated that into this card. You can see the graphic at the bottom of my post.

I used Basic Beige for the card base as well as the next layer.  The slightly smaller layer of Basic Beige is stamped with an upcoming new stamp called Lasting Linen which is a large background stamp and has a lovely subtle image that mimics fabric texture.  It's very cool and gave just the "something" that this layer needed!

Before adhering I added 2 lengths of Basic Beige classic ribbon down one side.  Next I stamped and die cut the 4 little images and added them to the card front with dimensionals.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and embossed in retired Early Espresso embossing powder.

The embellishments are a few Streaked Dots sprinkled around the images and a linen thread bow on the Crushed Curry leaf.

Polar Delivery - Stampin' Up!® Jolly Delivery

I had a bit of fun combining 2 challenges for this card.  The colors are from The Color Throwdown and are fabulously bright and the layout is from SUO Challenges which is quite similar to last weeks Freshly made Sketches layout that I missed playing along with so I'm getting a second chance with this one! I thought these colors would be great for a birthday card but then ended up making a Christmas card instead!

I translated the challenge colors into Stampin' Up!® Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush and Lemon Lime Twist and made the fun paneled background with pieces of Florals in Bloom DSP (Strawberry Slush) and retired Friends of the Ocean DSP (Pumpkin Pie).  I adhered the DSP to a piece of Basic White and then adhered that to the Strawberry Slush card base.

I love the bear in the Jolly Delivery stamp set and that was the perfect way to not only have some white to contrast with the bright colors but also to have the 3 challenge colors represented with the gifts on his back.  The bear is highlighted with a bit of Pool Party Stampin' Blends and then the gifts are colored as well.  He's mounted on dimensionals on a Lemon Lime Twist Spotlight on Nature die cut circle.

The sentiment is added under the bear and a bit of retired Pumpkin Pie twine tucked under.  I had to dig through a lot of retired embellishments to find some Lemon Lime Twist ones but luckily I had some Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins that did the trick! And I added a pink one to the LLT gift since that one doesn't have a bow.

And finally I used clear Wink of Stella to add a bit of sparkle to the gifts as the last detail to finish off this bright, non-traditional Christmas card.

Fall Wishes - Stampin' Up!® Delightful Wishes

I am thrilled to be joining the As You See It challenge today as a guest designer for the newest challenge!  It's such an honor to be asked and I get so much inspiration from challenges and other stampers that of course I want to try to pay it forward.  It's a fun recipe challenge this time around so you need to use each of the 5 "ingredients" listed below on your card.  I can't wait to see what you make!

I had fun putting my card together and pulling out some older supplies that fit my vision!  I used the Delightful Wishes bundle for my flowers and I have to say that I wish forsythia actually came in orange because it would be stunning!  Like maybe yellow for the spring bloom and then the oranges come out for a second fall bloom?  Horticulturists let's get on that right?!!

I wanted my orange flowers to pop so I used a darker background with a piece of Gathering Together DSP in an Early Espresso pattern.  For my frame ingredient I went literal and die cut a frame out of retired Distressed Gold paper with the Gallery Blooms dies.

For the flowers I used Timid Tiger and Cajun Craze for the two step stamps.  Once they were cut out I added them to a Pecan Pie branch and popped the whole thing up on dimensionals over the frame.

The 'happy' sentiment is the happy birthday in the Delightful Wishes stamp set.  I shortened the sentiment and the die cut for a more petite greeting and added it to the card with dimensionals.

Finally a few more blooms at the corner of the frame and some gold sequins finish the details on this fall birthday card.

Thanks so much for having me this week As You See It challenge!  Check out the rest of the awesome Design Team samples and then make one of your own to add to the gallery!

Ornamental Punches - Stampin' Up!® Ornamental Christmas

It's been a busy week designing for lots of fun reasons and today is no exception!  I've been invited to be a guest designer for Stampin' Through the Catalog today (Facebook and Instagram).  I get to create and share a project which Melody, Cindy and Kaitlyn will use as inspiration to create their own projects.  I have to admit that I was a bit stumped on what to make!  They said I could make any kind of project using a current stamp set.  That's it. No other parameters.  It was really hard deciding and also a bit intimidating because I am constantly inspired by their work and the work of past guest designers so I definitely wanted to do it justice.

As is the case when under the pressure of no parameters and trying to come up with a "good idea" every single thing I made was super ugly. I had not a shred of objectivity on telling whether something was Stampin' Through the Catalog worthy or not so I showed my husband my top 2 choices and let him decide.  lol.

A Christmas theme is a safe bet this time of year and I've loved using the Ornamental Christmas bundle but wanted to do something a bit different from the white/black/gold of the suite samples shown by Stampin' Up!®.  I always love a good non-traditional color combo for Christmas and this one is a bright pop of fresh colors!  Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive, Petunia Pop and Fresh Freesia take center stage for this design!

I started with a Basic White thick card base.  Then using 1" x 5 1/4" strips of cardstock in my colors and the A Little Cheer mini punches I created a fun background by punching the Christmas shapes out in a random pattern across each strip and then adhering the strips to the card front.  It's always a bonus to find ways to use the 1 inch wide strips of cardstock I always end up with!

With all the brightness of the background I wanted to keep the rest of the elements fairly simple so I embossed the sentiment in gold onto a Traditional Label die cut and then backed it with a bit of Petunia Pop ribbon.  The tree is also embossed in gold on Old Olive cardstock. Both die cuts are popped on dimensionals.

A gold foil punched star tops the tree and a few clear/gold Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink gems accent the edge of the sentiment label.

It's been great fun (if a little nerve-wracking) participating with Stampin' Through the Catalog and I'm honored to have been asked!  I can't wait to see their projects! You can follow them on Instagram or on Facebook.
