Garden of In Colors - Fab Friday 67 - Stampin' Up! Garden in Bloom

It's that time again!  Fab Friday Challenge Time!  Woo Hoo!  We are sharing our creations using new In Colors this time around.  You can use a few or try for all of them in one project!

I really challenged myself and I went for all 5 on one card.  I had to think about it for a few days before attempting.  While I like all of the 2015-2017 In Colors I wasn't sure if I liked them all together.  I find that sometimes a few colors don't always play well with others.  I ended up pleased with what I happened.

While I did use all 5 colors a few of them are used quite sparingly but I managed!

The card base is Tip Top Taupe stamped with the new Writing Notes background in Tip Top Taupe ink.  I rounded the bottom corners of the card with my corner rounder punch.

The flower images are the new Garden in Bloom stamp set.  The blossom is Watermelon Wonder stamped off once and then highlighted in full strength ink.  The leaves are first stamped with Mint Macaron and then a small highlight of Cucumber Crush.  The center of the flower is Delightful Dijon stamped off once.  All images are outlined in Tip Top Taupe ink.

The bumble bee is stamped once on Whisper White and cut out and adhered to the second bumble bee stamped right onto the card front.  The bees path is made with the Tip Tip Taupe marker.

The flower is cut out and popped up with a dimensional over the stem.

Underneath the flower panel is a piece of the new Glassine Sheets that was torn and then crumpled for some light texture.

I added a sentiment banner in Mint Macaron using a small sentiment from the new Watercolor Wings set.  A new metal rimmed pearl anchors the banner.

I hope you'll head over to see the rest of the awesome projects the Fab Friday Design Team has come up with and then jump in and join us.  Remember you have 2 weeks to enter our challenge so there's no excuse!

Fresh Summer Encouragement - Stampin' Up! You've Got This

Here is a card we made at my New Catalog open house.  I was trying to incorporate all of the new In Colors into the 2 projects.  The card for today uses 2 of them; Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush.

The Cucumber Crush card base is embossed with the new Elegant Dots embossing folder.

The crosshatch background is stamped in Cucumber Crush ink but stamped off once for a lighter image as to not over power the flower stamped right over the top in Watermelon Wonder ink.

One side of the flower panel is hand torn and then a strip of the Dotted Lace trim is adhered to that side.

The large panel is adhered to the card front with dimensionals.  The sentiment is stamped in Strawberry Slush and cut out with a Circles framelit.  It is also popped up on dimensionals.  The center of the flower is covered with Dazzling Details for a small amount of bling.

Garden in Bloom Thank You - Stampin' Up!

The Garden in Bloom stamp set was one of the first items I had to order when the new Stampin' Up! catalog went live a few weeks ago.  Who doesn't need a versatile flower set??  My basic flower stamp set collection was lacking a bit so Garden in Bloom really fit the bill. And the little butterfly and bumble bee are adorable bonuses!

My stampin ladies must have agreed since this was a very popular stamp set to order after my new catalog open house.

The background panel is embossed with the new Elegant Dots embossing folder.  It's a nice subtle pattern.

The image outlines are stamped in Tip Top Taupe.  The leaves are Pear Pizzazz, the flower is Perfect Plum and the butterfly is Delightful Dijon stamped off once.

The sentiment is also Tip Top Taupe and it's from another new stamp set One Big Meaning.

The only extras on this card are a narrow strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock along one edge of the image panel and then a length of gold sequin trim under the sentiment.

Tool Thanks - Stampin' Up! One Big Meaning

After a whirlwind trip out of town last weekend and Cub Scout camp chaperoning all this week it's been a busy time for us!  I haven't had much energy to be in the stamp room but do have a few projects to show that were made before the chaos started.

Since Father's Day is tomorrow I thought this might be a good time to write about this card.  Even though I made it as a thank you to a friend who lent us some tools for a home improvement project the sentiment could easily be changed for a Dad.

I had a piece of Baked Brown Sugar left on my stamping desk after cleaning the retired colors out of my work space so I just grabbed it and stamped the Hardwood background on it in Soft Suede ink.

I stamped the new One Big Meaning thank you sentiment onto Very Vanilla and cut it out with my oval framelits.  I added a row of 3 silver brads underneath for some "hardware".  That is all popped on dimensionals to the card front.

Next I poked around the internet for punch art tools and found one for a hammer.  Basically you punch a large oval then with a smaller oval you nip out a few partial ovals from the big one to get your hammer shape.  I added some details with my Basic Gray marker and mounted the hammer onto the handle punched with the Word Window punch.

The nail and screw I came up with on my own.  I know they aren't to scale with the hammer but I still think they look good.

I cut narrow strips of Smoky Slate and trimmed the ends to points.  The threads of the screw are stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge set.  The head of the screw is a circle punched with the Owl punch and trimmed with the line hand drawn.  The nail head is also a punched circle with both sides trimmed.

More Baby Cards - Stampin' Up! Zoo Babies

Boy am I glad that the Zoo Babies set carried over into the new 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! catalog!  I don't know what I would do for baby cards if it retired!

We made this card last month at my stamp club.  It was a last hurrah for some of the In Colors that were retiring but you can easily recreate them using other colors.

My stamping ladies had the choice between Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush.  The trick to a CAS card like this using embossing is to ALWAYS use your embossing buddy across your cardstock before stamping with Versamark.  Otherwise you'll get little stray flecks of embossing powder where you don't want it.  Trust me-- don't skimp on using the right tools for the job!

I'm hard at work getting organized for my annual New Catalog Party and BOGO sale which is next Tuesday so you might not hear from me much for a few days.  I'm busy pricing retired items, making samples, designing the projects and planning the food!  If you're local to me and would like to attend this free event please let me know by 8pm tonight!

Bird on a Branch - Stampin' Up! Sprinkles of Life

My boys are huge readers...I mean huge.  Like if they are reading a book they don't hear anything else going on around them, including their mother asking them to do something!  I know lots of moms have the opposite problem getting their kids to read so we are lucky in that way.  We hit the library about once a week for them to stock up and most of the books are read before the middle of the week.  So when my cousins wife asked me if we would be interested in some books that their son had outgrown of course I jumped right on it!

My parents hauled the 5 boxes of books down with them from CT the last time they visited and I sorted them out for the boys and put some away for when they are older.  Now I think we need a new bookshelf somewhere!

I had to make a card to thank my cousins family for their generosity and have the boys write a thank you note.

I used the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch for my layout and played around with some new 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! catalog items.  Don't forget that today is the big day when the whole catalog is available to order from!  Demonstrators are super excited to get to share all the new products and stamps with you.  If you want to order head over to my online store and see what's new.  The link is in my side bar.  If you are local to me in the Richmond, VA area and would like a catalog just let me know and I will get one to you.

I decided that Pacific Point is a fabulous pairing with the new In Color Cucumber Crush.  These would make for a nice crisp Father's Day card....hint hint hint!

The base is Pacific Point, then a layer of Cucumber Crush and a layer of Whisper White embossed with the Cloudy Day embossing folder (retired).

I layered a piece of Cherry on Top DSP and flagged the end.  The sentiment is embossed in white onto a narrow scrap of Pacific Point.

I had a lot of fun putting together the scene using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and coordinating Tree Builder punch.   The circle is Soft Sky and I embossed the cloud image in white and then added my other pieces.  The branch is stamped in Soft Suede onto Tip Top Taupe and punched out.  I stamped the tree leaves in Cucumber Crush onto the same color cardstock and then cut out a few bunches of the leaves.  I popped the middle set of leaves up on a tiny piece of dimensional.  Finally I stamped the bird in Pacific Point on the same color cardstock and then punched it out.  The whole scene is popped on dimensionals over the edge of the banner.

The final touch is a cluster of buttons under the sentiment.  The Pacific Point flower shaped button is one from a Sale-a-Bration reward several years ago and I still had a few left.  Talk about hoarding right?

Oh My Stars Baby Girl - Stampin' Up! Zoo Babies

I'm still on my quest to make these baby girl cards and I used the Freshly Made Sketches challenge to work on the second one.  This challenge ends this afternoon so I'm getting in under the wire!

I flipped the layout on its side so hopefully you can still see the sketch elements.  And I might have gone a bit crazy with the gold hearts!  I used the Stars border punch to get one or 2 and then I just couldn't stop myself!
